Another point is that people who aren't knowledgable about poker see it as just another form of gambling, like blackjack or craps. They see it as entertainment and expect to lose. That leads to fishy, loose poker games. Once a player like that gets bored or goes broke, there is one less fish in the ocean.

It is still easy to be better than the average player, but with lot less fish, the $/hour is a lot less than it used to be if you play without bonus.
Once the WTP new season hits the Travel channel and once the WSOP buzz builds as we get closer to it, the first popularion will grow.
But,to honest, I think most of them are still around

Just did PPA over last month - big gap in middle for other bonuses - and did it at one of my best, possibly best, BB/100 at .5/1 HE FL for a bonus, so I'm not weighing anchor just yet.

Everyone in poker should ban that word from their vocabulary. Every player who knows you probably shouldn't coldcall a raise with 3-4 offsuit calls everyone else a fish. Be kind to "recreational" players.
Playing 1/2 HE FL at P. Stars yesterday with a fish who was cleaning up at first was hilarious. Guy who was getting all the bad beats started yelling at him, and then another player kept doing multiple CRs to scroll everything he said off the screen before the fish could see.
Bad-beat guy still going mad, and letting himself get more beats by fish because he was tilting and the fish didn't care if he won or not.
Guess there were two fishes......

in NL, there wre lots of fish, not much anymore, I switch to PL, lots of fish, lasted about 3 weeks, no more fish. Tried higher stakes, Limit, almost no fish! Martin was supposed to full of fish, but it seems I'm too late, now it's overrunned by whores.

They're called fish for a reason. They keep moving to get away from the fishermen. Fish aren't stupid. They know when the rest of their school is being hooked and they move to a new location where it is safe. Your job is to find that spot and drop the hook and reel in as many as you can before they know what hit them and run to a new spot.
