Swedish Model-
1. Online Gambling by individuals is legal and tax free. The people are happy.
2. Hosting Online Gambling is legal and taxable. Site owners and the government is happy.
3. Swedes not playing against Swedes online using servers within the legal jurisdiction of Swedish Courts. Everyone who thinks about it is happy. Imagine the donkey you just busted for last/next/this months rent suing everyone involved or worse tracking you down............
4. Swedes playing the rest of the word. We are all happy.
So the only people upset over this are Swedish Bonus Whores missing out on a juicy bonus.

Sweden is a member of the european community and opposite to what a lot of people think It's NOT illegal to play onlinepoker in sweden, it's even taxfree within the community so that's not the problem!! yes the boss media and cherry is sited in sweden BUT the pokersites aren't. This would be as if we in sweden were forbidden to play the slotmachines due to they come from cherrycompanies or buy alcohol and tobacoo online (due to the swedish monopoly) That's not illegal either (the issue are if you wanna pay the taxes/toll for it when you ship the alcohol/tobaco home but it's not illegal to go into the site, start an account and start shopping)! So i don't buy that answer! I mean the government realized a long time ago that this is a phenomenom that aren't gonna be stopped, how were they supposed to do to stop it? Gambling for money is and have always been illegal when it's done in public and as long as it's not in a closed society with memberlists and in tournaments.

I've read the same thing about Chinese players too. These sort of decisions seem to be made when a poker site is afraid of fraud or the legal consequences of offering gambling online.
I do know that a few sites refuse to accept American players because online gambling is technically illegal in the U.S. and personnel from some sites have been threatened with arrest should they step foot on American soil.

I asked them why and got the response "Management decided this" Asked PokerHeaven same questions and got exactly the same response Oh wow how enlightened I just got! But why? What possible threat can swedes do to Pokerheaven, Celeb poker and the other that no other nationality can? This is pure discrimination against us! Boss Media is based here but so what? The pokersites aren't!
We can play at the sites but then we have to reg our accounts as some other nationality such as norweigan or something! Then what will happened if we win money? Or if it's a leaguegame what will happen to the forum we play for or our own account?
They don't wanna respond to the question why except that stupid standardphrase "management have decided this"
