** You are now speaking with Yvonne, Player Support. **
Niels : Hi
Yvonne : Hello
Niels : I have a question about currencies
Niels : My neteller account is in USD
Niels : No, sorry, Euros
Niels : But when I play at pokerroom sites, they charge me a conversion fee
Niels : When I cash-out
Yvonne : The site operates in USD
Niels : So what changes when I select preferred currency in euros?
Yvonne : The site will do the exchange for you when you transfer your money from your cashier to your poker account
Niels : And are there fees in that conversion?
Yvonne : Please give me a moment
Niels : Ok
Yvonne : Have you signed up for an account?
Niels : I am planning to
Yvonne : How are you planning on making your deposits/withdrawls?

I think they mean their rake is in Euros.
what's the currency in Changoistan?
We're on the greenback here.
It's 5 turtles for a half rack of PBR.
that sounds expensive for PBR.
It's the ice that gets you.

| Posted by: Alphaunit1 at June 17, 2006, 6:56 am | | Topic: Neteller euro vs dollar Forum: Bonus Whores | When you make a deposit at Littlewoods (for instance) from your USD Neteller account, Neteller adds in a 1.9% "spread" on the current exchange rate. This is, BTW, VERY normal for currency exchange transactions in the finance world. Check one of your credit card T&Cs, and you will see something similar. It's a profit center/protection against the vagaries of currency fluctuation for the banks.
That said, we'll do an example for right now:
Depositing £200 into Littlewoods.
Current exchange rate at Oanda shows £1=$1.85160.
Neteller bumps exchange rate to £1=$1.88678 to account for their 1.9% spread.
Neteller withdraws $377.36 from your account and transfer £200 into your Littlewoods account. No mention of the fee, it's just built into the exchange rate they use. (A straight "no fee" exchange would have had $370.32 coming out of your Neteller account.)
You paid $7.04 in currency exchange fees for that transaction.

Ok, I've made deposits at both Littlewoods and UK recently (and a withdrawal from Littlewoods) but I never saw anything about a fee. At what point does neteller charge you and is there some record of the fee or do they just credit you with the money minus the fee?
Neteller applies the fee in a very sneaky way because it doesn't show up separately but is simply included in their exchange rate. Next time you make a foreign exchange transaction, compare their rate (they usually send an email mentioning it) with any corresponding bank figure and you'll see the difference. I used to discount the effect of Neteller's gouging when I had a CAD account because it wasn't obvious but, as my bankroll increased and I did the math, it beca... | | Read Entire Entry |

Neteller sent me a letter way back when about some VIP thing that I didn't really read and I don't know if I'm not getting charged or just don't know where to look.
Crypto doesn't charge you to play in a different currency than your own. In fact, the only charge you ever get from Crypto is the 1 unit (dollar or pound) you pay to withdraw.
However, if you have a Neteller account in $ and make a deposit to a Crypto site that operates in pounds (Total, UK and Littlewoods), Neteller will charge you a 1.9 percent conversion fee BOTH ON DEPOSIT AND WITHDRAWAL. | | Static Link |

Have you contacted Neteller and asked them? Closing your account and reopening in a different currency? Maybe that's an option.
What about opening a Firepay or other ewallet account and just use both?
When a currency "suffers" it's due to many things. The $ will strengthen at some point, so will the cyclical nature of most currency within any stable economy. They suffer for many reasons. Our (I'm in the US) suffering dollar helps our manufacturers and tourism among other things, always two sides to the coin.

| Posted by: Nielsio at June 12, 2006, 7:44 pm | | Topic: Neteller euro vs dollar Forum: Bonus Whores | I'm having some problems that I'm having to pay conversion from dollar->euro because my neteller account is in euros (I'm from Europe; seemed like a better chance at the time).
So has anyone experience in changing it (or however they do that, like creating new and deleting or)?
I'm also a bit reluctent to change to dollars, because the dollar's really suffering; and that's not gonna stop any time soon (or ever). The euro suffers as well, but less.
Some tips converning what sites do and what don't make you pay conversion would be helpful.
