Doyles Room

Hi, this is Doyle Brunson,

Just want to let you know that it's buisness as usual here at Doyle's Room.

I know some of you may be concerned about the online gamling bill recently passed by the Senate. I believe that is far too early to fully understand the implications of this bill in our industry. Until such time as this becomes clearer, Doyle's Room will operate as normal with our full exciting range of games and tournaments at all limits. Come join me at the weekly Bounty Tournament this Thursday and every Thursday at Doyle's Room.

And finally, please rest assured your money is complete safe at Doyle's Room. I personally guaranteed it.

Regarding the recent bill passed regulating payments to online gaming sites-

Most important is that this bill does NOT make it illegal for individuals to play poker online.

The bill targets payment processors and US banks and is basically trying to make it difficult for online poker sites to allow their customers to fund their accounts (nothing new here really).

The bill does not take effect immediately. After the president signs the bill into law (if) (within the next 7-10 days), a government board will have 270 days to come up with new regulations for the banks and payment processors to follow. And even after the regulations are published they will likely not go into effect immediately, since the banks and payment processors will need time to add systems to comply with the new regulations. Smaller banks have already stated they would not even have the necessary resources in place to monitor such transactions.

We want you to know th...

Agreed. This thread was a great idea but I would also appreciate a locked thread with just the official statements from the sites with no commentary from the peanut gallery.

I've read several posts at 2+2 that claim Titan and iPoker will be shutting out players by Friday for the US maket. Shit Fuck Damn

Both sites affiliates have received e-mails stating that they are no longer allowing:

- New U.S. players to open accounts there
- Current U.S. players to make deposits there.

We are not sure exactly how this will effect us and of course we will have to
follow any law that refers to us.

However we are not sure how this new development will affect us for now, we will
inform all US players once we have any more information.

We would like to inform you that for the moment we will not be making any changes in our policy towards the US market.

In the case that we do need to make any changes, we will make sure to inform our US players in the matter.

You're welcome, Andrew. BTW, I realize that some of these sites are piddly, but some of these smaller sites could really capitalize. Sure, there may be some smaller sites that will maybe have to close at some point, but some are going to emerge very strong, IMO.

As I understand it the law does not have any affect on the players other then the possible abilty to deposit. Make sure that wherever you play you keep a correct address on file. If a poker room decides to block US players without notice they may mail checks like Littlewoods did.

Do you think the gov. will try and track down people still playing poker online at these sites, should we no longer use legit sign up information or how would you recommend going about this new ban?

It seems to be coming to pass that the dividing line between sites that are/are not affected by this is whether they are publicly or privately held.

Nice work, Gonzo.

I think you are completely right. There are a few small sites will really capitalize if Party and others go through with their bans. It is unlikely the smaller sites will stop taking Americans, especially with their lack of public float.

JetSet Poker

We are aware of the bill that has been ratified in the state of
Washington in the United States pertaining to online gambling.
Additionally as it relates to the recent passage of HR 4411 by the House
of Representatives we believe that this to be bad public policy as poker
is game that is rooted in the history of America and has been for many
generations and enjoyed by near 80 million strong.

JetSetPoker is actively involved in efforts to oppose such efforts
ranging from grass roots activism and various other public endeavors to
productively and prudently impact any subsequent government legislative
undertakings. The JetSetPoker Terms and Conditions
(http://www.jetsetpoker.com/ipage.aspx?i=s_termsandconditions_main)
state that the services provided by the Site are not for use in
jurisdictions where it may be proscribed by law. In direct answer to
your query may we state unequivocally that we have n...

Cake Poker

Thank you for your email. Let me start by saying that CakePoker definitely does not intend to restrict access to our valued players from the United States. It appears that some of our competitors have decided to take this preemptive step for business reasons that are most likely related to the fact that they are publicly listed companies. In other words, they cannot be seen as doing anything that would put their shareholders in a precarious position. CakePoker N.V. is a legally licensed and privately held company in the country of Curacao. We have no such pressures placed upon us.

Further, this bill still has some stages to go through and is not likely to even become a law until the spring of 2007. If/when this bill actually becomes the law, our legal department will formulate an official policy on CakePoker accepting payments from US residents via US based financial institutions. However, as an alternative to accepting payments from US based financial institutions we h...

Jungle Poker

updated 10/4/06

With the recent developments in the US, we wanted to let you know that JunglePoker will continue to service new and existing players from the United States. Our business will continue to run as usual.

JunglePoker is a privately held business located wholly outside the United States. JunglePoker operations are 100% legal under International and Costa Rican law.

New legislation will not criminalize individuals for playing poker online. Instead, the bill will eventually attempt to prevent the transfer of funds to online gaming. As poker is a game of skill rather than pure chance, we hope that it will not be affected by this new bill.

JunglePoker will continue to offer United States customers the very best in Online Poker with the fastest secure deposit and payout solutions. All new and existing customers should be 100% confident in playing with the very best at JunglePoker. You will still be ...

I thought I would send emails to the smaller sites and get their position on the current legislation. I will post them as I get them. Some of these smaller sites may turn into bigger sites as the legislation scares off bigger, publically traded companies.
