Forum: Bonus Whores | Has any of the sites that closed their doors to the US actually given clear and acceptable reasons for their actions other than referring to the bill and waving the white flag?
Why wouldn't Neteller be a solution to this, it isn't a gambling site and why not continue to at least offer the ability to buy in to tourneys on sites as that can't be considered as 'wagering' surely? | | Static Link |

There are specific provisions for crimial penalties for the people running the poker/casino sites. It could even be that the shareholders are subject to the same criminal penalties. This type of legal risk clearly was not acceptable to the public corporations, so they left.
It will be a surprise if the big poker rooms don't reappear in priave hands and reopen their poker tables to US players. Party especially had a market share worth billions of dollars. Greed will overcome fear for some investor.
One thing we don't know about is the willingness of the British (and other) governments to extradite the executives (or shareholders) of the on-line casinos and poker rooms. If the national government is wishy-washy about this, it makes closing your US players out even more imperative.

Then have Neteller cut us a check on our profits?? Wouldn't that be O.K. ? | | Static Link |

I'm have trouble finding an article I read that spelled out the reasons why the companies listed on the UK stock market reacted the way they did, could someone maybe quickly explain it to me or provide me with a link. Because I am trying to work it out in my head right now, and it doesn't make any sense, I'm I right in assuming the bill only goes after the banks so therefore it shouldn't affect us as poker players or the actual poker sites, because I thought that all the sites only dealt with companies such as Neteller, who have said that its basically business as usual.
Thanks
My understanding is that the publically traded companies basically had to leave the American market because of the investors that they had to answer to. Continuing to operate as a publically traded site, while possibly breaking the law, wouldn't sit right with investors and perhaps a lawsuit could result.
I'm hoping some of these sites resurface as private sites. | | Static Link |
