playing a satellite or two today.. if I dont win an entry I might just buy in for the full $100+ if the overlay is great
Obviously, you never know how many people are going to enter the tournament but here are the numbers I have:
Note: Tournaments at the bottom are the most recent
#ofplayers--money added--overlay
638--------36,200-----------$56.73
433--------56,700-----------$130.94
469--------53,100-----------$113.21
557--------44,300-----------$79.53
average: $47,575 added with 524 players given players an overlay of $90.75 | | Static Link |

| Posted by: ed209 at April 19, 2005, 8:54 am | | Topic: Bodog Overlays getting rediculous Forum: Bonus Whores | your Bodog cash balance is whatever is listed in the upper left corner of the lobby window, plus whatever you have at the tables (similar to pokerroom). once you buy in or leave a table, it takes a few minutes to update but it should eventually.
bodog points do not update in the lobby during your session, but you can always get your current total by going to Tools -> Bodog Poker Points History. | | Static Link |

| Posted by: ed209 at April 18, 2005, 4:19 pm | | Topic: Bodog Overlays getting rediculous Forum: Bonus Whores | as a general rule, I think all poker sites credit bonus points for tourneys at the conclusion, not the beginning.
on bodog and probably every place else where you can clear bonuses with tourney fees, SNG's and MTT's are treated the same way. I can't think of any site that would exclude one variety in favor of the other. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: patient77 at April 18, 2005, 4:08 pm | | Topic: Bodog Overlays getting rediculous Forum: Bonus Whores | just accidentally clicked on the tourney forum. thank god i did. these bodog tourneys are awesome deals. didn't realize what a gem some of these tourney finds can be.
couple quick newbie questions about bodog tourneys. I played the $10,000 guaranteed just now, but I'm pretty sure that my $25 + 2 tourney fee wasn't deducted from my account balance. also, the bodog poker points didn't increase either.
does the tourney fee and/or the points get updated only when the tourney is completed? does anyone know if we get bodog poker points for the multitable guaranteed tournaments, or just the sit and go's?
thanks in advance.

For those of you who don?t know what an overlay is, I will give a brief description. To have an overlay in a tournament means that there is more money added to the prize pool in addition to what players have put in, making it more valuable to you than an average tournament. I believe overlays can be grouped into three categories, free-rolls (either totally free or point entry); guaranteed tournaments which don?t meet their ?guarantee? and money added tournaments.
Free-rolls are tournaments in which you pay no money to get in. The first type of free-roll is where you pay absolutely nothing (no ?points needed?). A common free-roll is Empire?s $500 nightly free-roll. If 2000 people enter that tournament the overlay would be $0.25. The second type of free-roll is one in which you need to do something else to enter, usually points or hands played. It can be debated if it?s actually a free-roll or not, but the bottom line is no extra mon... | | Read Entire Entry |

The overlay numbers you see scattered over this site are basically projections.
It's based on how many people have entered the exact tournament in it's history (at least the ones I have numbers on). Obviously the larger the same size, the more accurate the overlay projection. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: ed209 at April 14, 2005, 4:21 pm | | Topic: Bodog Overlays getting rediculous Forum: Bonus Whores | I actually won a $5 SNG on bodog, that's how bad it is over there...but I'll stick to my $1/2 LHE grinds, thank you very much.

One thing I noticed is that for those sites which give good rebates on tourney fees, generally there is a higher ratio of SNG/MTT players compared to ring players, according to pokerpulse. this is certainly true for:
Poker Stars
Pokerroom
Tribeca/Apex (I believe VC gives rebates, but not the other skins)
Full Tilt
Bugsy's Club
however, this does not appear to be the case on Bodog, despite the new bonus WR which essentially gives players an unprecedented 200% refund on tourney fees. Poker players don't seem to give Bodog much respect, perhaps because they always market themselves as a combination casino + sports + poker, rather than targeting specific audiences with each division. their print ads are too "image"-y and don't really expl... | | Read Entire Entry |
