If there is, it cerainly isn't less then 50 players. Today, 51 players played. The fact that it has a fee (ie 50 + 5 not 50 + 0) makes me question how there can be an overlay, unless BW is predicting that the tourney will not fill up, or if they just look at the number of people signed up at that point in time.
Was just wondering which it is, no big deal just curious.

Since these tournaments generally take on a pattern, the overlay you see on each site's review is based upon past tournaments. | | Static Link |

so a 50K guaranteed tourney with a max of 2000 entries and a $20.00 buy in has an overlay of $5.00
(50,000 - 40,000) / 2000 = 5
Naturally, the overlay is more if the event does not fill.
Make sense?

| Posted by: gnarus at June 4, 2005, 9:58 am | | Topic: Empire overlay? Forum: Bonus Whores | I was wondering how overlay is calculated for fee tourneys with a guaranteed payout. For example, the 50 + 5, 2500.00 guaranteed, indicates over a 5.00 overlay. Obviously, it depends on how many people sign up(if more then 50 there is no overlay) Is this based on how many people are signed up at that moment in time, or a prediction based on historical participation in the tourney?
Just curious.
