I can beat Party NL .25/.50 regularly but the income from that isn't as much as playing 0.5/1 with a bonus. I think I can break even at 0.5/1 but I'm not confident to move up limits (at NL anyway). I'm too tight-passive I think.
Looking back, the only site I seem to beat more often than not at 0.5/1NL are the Primas. I think its because of the Europeans hitting the All-in button more often, so my passive trapping seems easier there. I could make a mess of it but I think at 0.5/1 the Primas are where I'll start the trial. I've still got a few sign-ups there to do so that should help while I am getting into it.
I need to do more homework though, so has anybody else any views about whether the Primas are softer at 0.5/1 than the other big networks? | | Static Link |

But will play at some sites with what are considered bonuses not worth doing or marginal by many whores. If i feel I can more then make up for the poor bonus by increased win rate.
Its all about the bottom line.
But you need to be willing to do some Experimenting and play diffrent sites and games.

Mainly though this has been because Stud High has been so good to me this past year that I find it at time more profitable to play certain sites with no current bonus just because the Stud games are so good. Of course, when they offer a reload, it's twice as sweet!

Look for bonuses that don't expire quickly, and cut down your number of tables. You don't have to be a massively multitabling semibot rock to win at this game. People here love to heap praise on the Party reloads, but it's mostly because they used to be good. Look into Will Hill, Sun Poker, Interpoker, or Paradise for better bonuses for you, then drop down to one table and learn to beat the games. It won't take very long for you to do better that way than trying to add a million tables and break even before bonus. | | Static Link |

I'm at the point where I make quite a bit more in play than I do in bonuses. I still run all over the place for bonuses, though, because why give up all that rake for nothing?
I think a lot of people here base what games they're playing in on what bonus they're working on. For the low limit whore that's fine. But it's also profitable to do it in reverse: I find a game that I like, and then grab up whatever secondary income I can from it.
One thing that means is that I commit some mortal sins around here: I let bonuses expire, fairly regularly. I skip bonuses that a lot of other people love (Party for instance) because the only games I can stand to play on those sites are less profitable to me than my regular game. I stack the hell out of bonuses that don't expire in hopes of discovering good games on those sites in the future. Two categories:
1. I know people who are too nitty or lazy to move money back and forth between accounts in order to receive their bonuses. Some people prefer tournaments. And there are some that just don't want to be required to reach a certain # of hands in a time period. Also there are people that don't trust certain sites.
2. The people who believe they can make more money than the bonuses. I'm sure every bonus whore on here is a poker theorist in some sort of manner. I would say a good estimate of the people on here could figure out within a certain degree of miscertainty what their win rate at certain sites are.
Yes there are better games on certain sites, however good games come up on all sites, I know of many people that will play one table on party poker, one on bodog, one on paradise, and one on oh lets say stars. Table selection is important,... | | Read Entire Entry |

However, when I was playing 1-2 - 3-6 I dont see any reason why you would play without a bonus. If you can clear a 100 bonus thats a full buy in for a 2-4 game which makes up for the differenece in play. If anyone here could stick to one site and make more off the players than the bonuses I am sure they would. At the $1/$2 limit it is hard to beat a game more than what you make off bonuses and the game at a random site consistantly. The higher limit you go the less important bonuses become. If you do well at Party network (I do well there also) than stick with it. Just make sure you do a the Party and Empire reloads as they come avaliable. Wouldn't want to leave any on the table.

I usually play 1/2 and 2/4 limit (sometimes 3/6) and I seem to do well when I play at Party Poker without a bonus. Usually when I sit down I can pick up like $20 here another $30 there where I usually finish in the green, and I like how quickly the cashout is to Neteller at Party. I notice that when I play for bonuses I tend to run into tables with a lot of bonus whores (especially at the smaller sites), and needless to say you guys are good (I usually only make a little bit + bonus)!!!
I guess my question is do you think the value of bonuses make up for the stiffer competition? I have already whored the easier bonuses (Party, Empire, Hollywood, Pokerroom etc), so I think the best bonuses I could find would be probably 7x (though rare) and the occaisional juicy reload.
