Stars and Party probably wouldn't mind one of their competitors getting bad press. I wrote a lengthy letter to ongame and betandwin (ongame's owner) about this incident as well as all the futurebet crap while I was at it. I made sure to note the sites that have already blacklisted CnR over this and gave them links to threads where players are saying they'll never play on ongame networks again (not just CnR, ANY of the skins). I hadn't thought about contacting PR or Hollywood but they certainly can't like the guilt by association since ongame seems content to pass out licenses to some really questionable people.

Let them all know that with the things going on in the U.S right now the last thing any of them need is a black eye on the online poker industry.
It would be in all of there best interests to resolve this quickly and quietly.
Let them all know that your mad and ready to raise hell (call it a bluff if you like)
Get all the big shots at these sites talking about this and talking to each other and they may find a way to bail out Check and Raise or resolve it to your satisfaction and sweep this little matter under the carpet.
I know it might be diffrent if i was actually in that situation but I would like to think I would fight a little rather then just lay down for them. Kind of like betting, raising and bluffing rather then just checking and calling.

This is a reply to both you and ajk.
Some one pointed out elsewhere that since they owe me 11K that I could almost be considered a creditor, and therefore entitled to know how they're handling their finances (a stretch I know, but a reasonable perspective IMO). If they know I'm watching their asses like hawk, they'll at least get the idea that they can't just "forget" about our arrangement sometime later. My brother, the lawyer, even offered to send them a letter with some vaguely threatening legaleese in it (you know, "be advised" kind of stuff, not "we're sending some big dudes to break your legs").

Have you also though about what happens if online poker becomes illegal in the next few months. It would really suck if you coudlnt even get 5-7k of the money because it may be illegal to gamble 1 year from now. They need to at least try to pony up as much as the money up front as possible. Also, instead of giving u the extra 1k, why not just buy each guy into one of the 1500 events. This way all of you guys at least to have the wsop experience that you earned and have been looking forward to. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: BCsparky at June 13, 2006, 4:39 pm | | Topic: CheckNRaise Reneges on the WSOP ME ticket Forum: Bonus Whores | I think the problem a lot of these pokerroom skins are having is caused from how the bonuses are paid vs how much rake the sites get credit for.
I played out a $300 7X bonus and the site only got credit for $150 in contributed rake being generated.
Sites like CNR that offered a big signup bonus at 7X initially had to be getting killed by all the tight bonus hunters, who are the first ones to flock to the site.
I hope you eventually get all your money Rob.

If they'd offered me the $10k in cash up front, I'd have taken it (as I said at the time).
Since then, however, I've told everyone I know that I'm going to the WSOP, I totally rearranged my playing schedule to practice my MTT game, and I've gotten really psyched about playing. I was even thinking about going to Germany for the World Cup and I fucking cancelled because I needed the vacation days for Vegas.

Erez,
I am bitterly disappointed in CheckNRaise. I am a respected contributor on three major poker forums and I’ve praised CnR in all of them. You people are making me look like an idiot and I REALLY hate that. When news of this breaks I can only guess at its impact on the large online poker community. I’ve kept the news to a select circle because, perhaps selfishly, I’d like to get paid and I don’t want CnR blacklisted anywhere because that would hurt your bottom line and mine.
I appreciate that you may be having cash flow problems and that you want to make things “right” with me and the 9 other players who won tickets. However, your terms are unacceptable.
The idea that you would be still paying me and the other 9 for the 2006 WSOP ME ticket nearly a year AFTER the 2007 WSOP is ridiculous. You need to pay us at least a $1000 a month for 11 months.

My ChecknRaise username is SpiritOfTal and I won a $1,000 seat by qualifying four times for the freerolls. I made the final table in all three of the $10,000 freerolls, but came up short.
After never having problems at a poker site, I'm getting this just a month after the trouble at PowerPlayer started. I've had $5K disappear from PowerPlayer and another $1K that has been pending cashout since May 3.
Frankly, I don't like our chances of seeing our money. Their latest bonus is 15x. This is fine if they are doing a contest with added value. I actually played a 20x bonus to qualify for those WSOP freerolls. To stand on its own, they need at least a 10x bonus to get traffic. If it was my site, I would make it 9x. That would have a small profit margin, but get lots of traffic. My point is that they aren't going to get much traffic or make much money with a 15x bonus. Without profits, I don't see them turning their cashflow situation... | | Read Entire Entry |

Yeah, this is one of those "knife edge" kind of things, though. If you want any chance of recovering any part of the prize's value, you're going to be stuck playing "nicey nice" to them until then. Hi Rob,
We regret to inform you that CnR will be unable, at this time, to make a lump sum payment for the 10 WSOP seats that were won this year through the “CheckPoints to Millions” and “Freeway to Vegas” promotions on ChecknRaisePoker. However, we plan to make this up to you over the coming months. We will deposit into your player account 5% or more, as cash flow permits, of the value of your entry in monthly installments starting July 31st , 2006 until 110% of the cash equivalent is paid in full.
Unfortunately our cash flow did not allow us to set aside sufficient funds from the time that you won your seat in March. If you plan to attend the WSOP in any event, we wish you the best of luck and we are sure you will have a great time.
