I can easily play 4 tables by placing the screens going from the upper left of the monitor, to the lower right. This way you never have a problem with misclicking, and the tables pop up when you need them too. I guess I've never played with no overlap so I might not know what I'm missing, but it's worked for me so far.

Except when you're playing in your kitchen, you flop middle set on an uncoordinated board and you lose connection on a site with no all-in protection *grumble grumble*.

Many good Texas Holdem players are strategic thinkers who strive to improve their play. Eventually, there's not much more room to improve because you've reached the limits of your abilities. In addition to that, the game itself becomes repetitive. Many of the same situations recur and the same decisions are being made. It becomes less and less of a challenge, and more and more automatic.
When you no longer improve, when the game is repetitive, and when it is no longer challenging, guess what? You become bored.
When I first discovered Texas Holdem I thought, "This is great! It's almost as fun as playing a game of chess, but it pays me money!"
Now I sometimes feel like playing chess for an hour and foregoing the $10-$20 I can make in an hour playing poker.
I am still improving, and I've only played Texas Holdem for a few months, but I can see that e... | | Read Entire Entry |

Luckily I searched first. I absolutely have lost motivation this month (not week, month). I loaded one IGMPAY bonus up before the Party reload hit and haven't even finished it this week. I passed (yep, totally passed) on the Party reload even though me and the wife both have an account there. And I actually wanted that darn shirt. But play doesn't seem even remotely fun, it seems like work. More like work than work! I've barely been playing, an hour or less a day with days off thrown in. Even that doesn't seem to help. I've really run face first in to the wall. | | Static Link |

Combined with a bad run on the poker tables, bonus whoring is feeling more like a job than many of my jobs ever did.
This current slate is all I'm taking on. Then it's a nice (near total) break for a week or two, and hopefully I come back re-enegerised and ready to rip into whatever casinos or poker rooms are foolish enough to offer me their money.
We shall see. | | Static Link |
| Posted by: JPMcMoney at July 7, 2004, 4:41 am | | Topic: Bonus Burn Out Forum: Bonus Whores | I too, have dreaded playing sometimes. A week off helped me too. Switching limits and table types (NL and limit) helps freshen it up a little, as well as keep my skills for both fine tuned. Sometimes I will just play fewer tables (2 .50/$1 limit party tables - i can play these in my sleep) and watch tv or surf the net. That way, I am still clearing a bonus, but with less brain drain.

I agree. A few months ago, I would have thought this thread was nuts. Now I can relate.
I guess we are like the John Turturro character from Rounders, "That's noble work you are doing there... keep grinding out that rent money."
Still, I like the money and still enjoy the game enough that it is worthwhile.

This is usually how I get over the hump. Sometimes I sit down at a table and I feel like going to sleep as soon as I sit down. That is when I know I need a break from the tables.
