Topic: How much of a bonus do you clear? Forum: Bonus Whores
I was a consistent profitable player before I started whoring (had stuck to 1 site); now I am making more money with bonuses, but found recently I have slipped to a break even player

I think that has to do with playing on all these news sites I'm not used to, plus I think I now am playing with a mentality that I just have to break even, so I'm taking less chances because I know the bonus will give me profit

I was a profitable player before i started whoring, now, the bonuses add 10-20$/hr to my wins. i have finished clearing a bonus while losing money on my play, but never lost money counting the bonus. i chalk this up to variance, as sometimes i win waaayyyyy more than the bonus on my play, sometimes none, and, rarely, a little less.

I regularly lose more than the bonus. Aggressively playing 5-10 will give you swings that are much bigger than a $200 bonus over 1400 hands.

I can probably count on one hand the amount of times that I actually lost money clearing a bonus.

I feel fortunate to have stayed in the top 3 alternatives so far in my limited poker career (about 2 months) - that is, I have always ended up ahead (in total) when the bonus is cleared.

Results have been as low as a couple of dollars left of a bonus amount, to ending up $300 ahead (on top of the bonus) clearing 1000+ hands at a Party skin.

I have had some serious swings in this short time, and beeing the rookie that I am, I can't really tell if it is because of
a) my opponents being better/worse
b) luck - good/bad runs of cards
c) letting my mood affect my play
d) significant shifts in my style of play

I am happy I haven't lost money yet, but I am fully prepared to do so every now and then. I think poker is a lot of fun, and I am counting on the fact that some lessons are going to be costly to learn... but building experience as I go along.

Btw I totally agree with HackerMikes "always-clear-the-bonus" rule. Even if you don't think you can turn a...

i should say that i ALWAYS clear the bonus. if i were to lose 200 bucks playing for a 100 dollar bonus, i always clear the bonus so that i only lost 100. thats kind of common sense though...

Welcome to the boards. A lot of it depends on the player, bonus and the site. This is because some sites are harder than others. I often finish with a profit in just my poker play when at Party, but recently I have rarely been ahead in poker play at the Cryptos.

As a general rule...

1. Clear the full bonus amount and make a profit from playing poker. 35%
2. Clear the full bonus but break even from poker play. 35%
3. Clear the full bonus but lose some of the bonus money from poker play. 25%
4. Lose the full bonus amount during poker play but clear the bonus. 4%
5. Lose the full bonus amount from poker play and don?t clear the bonus. 1%

there was a poll similar to this not too long ago. not the exact same question though. when i play i usually make money on top of my bonus. at party skins i will generally make about 50-100 bucks ontop of the bonus. sometimes more, sometimes less. however, i am a pretty consistant loser at cryptos, but never lose enough to down when i get the bonus. lately i have been winning at crytpo too though. eventually you get used to each site and begin to win (if you are good). i think most of the people in this forum are decent poker players. im sure many have read some poker books and know how to play well.

Hello

I?ve been lurking on this board for a few weeks and have learned a ton of information about online poker sites. I?ve done a search on this question and haven?t found an answer. If it has been asked and answered please forgive me.

All poker players know that you have your ups and downs in your poker bankroll.

When you are playing for a bonus what percentage of the time do you:

1. Clear the full bonus amount and make a profit from playing poker.
2. Clear the full bonus but break even from poker play.
3. Clear the full bonus but lose some of the bonus money from poker play.
4. Lose the full bonus amount during poker play but clear the bonus.
5. Lose the full bonus amount from poker play and don?t clear the bonus.

Maybe this would be a good poll question? I'm not sure how to set one up.

Thanks

Bob
