FWIW I would never bet $600 into a $4,300 pot without the absolute nuts. I really don't see that happening very often either, unless it's just a donk out bluff and 95% they fold to raises. Are people min-betting specifically at you or just in general? If it's directed at you maybe you are folding to min bets a lot?

yeah the pre flop raising change is pretty well accepted, i was referring more to the 600$ c-bet into a 4300$ pot on the flop that you see so often. But it is interesting that such an established player as you, Alan, are a proponent of this style.

Since when did Alan learn to play poker?

Early in the tournament the blinds aren't very big and the relative chip value isn't that great so it makes sense to raise to 3x the bb, but in later stages of tournaments the blinds are larger relative to your overall stack and the value of each chip is higher so raising to 2-2.5x the bb accomplishes the same thing that a 3x bb raise previously did, but without the unnecessary risk and commitment.

Playing small pot poker also helps to make it more about skill than luck since you're actually playing hands instead of just getting it all in preflop due to pot commitment from a too large raise.

In the latter stages of tournaments you see a lot of min betting and min raising, regardless the size of the pot. Anyone else notice this?

At first I just thought these guys were fools, and I still stick with the pot size bets or thereabouts. But you see guys having success with this strategy in some stages, as they simply don't put their stacks at risk when bluffing or holding a second best hand. Anyone do this? What's the reasoning?
