First of you have to have a pair 6% chance of that.

The chance than some one else has a pair is about 40% at a full ring table
Then you have to flop the set 12%
After that there is the 989 to 1:er
So probably more like 1 in 350000 hands
There is also to consider that your pair has to be higher than his and that there is the chance that he will fold his pair preflop after a raise. not to mention the chance he will fold on the flop bet when missing his pair. | | Static Link |

I'm almost glad to see I'm not the only one suffering through theses extra reloads. Haven't cashed out below the bonus amount since May, yet in the past 1800 stud8 hands I've played (mostly 2/4 some 3/6 & .5/1) I'm down nearly $300, which in unheard of. Bricked an insane amount of lo/straight, lo/flush draws from 4th, and constantly sucked out on 7th. Only a 6% win rate over the period and every session seems to start out with a 40-50 hand dryspell before I take down a pot.

Yes, it can be done. I win about 2BB/100 at that limit and I've put in about 50,000 hands at that limit.
Yes, it's true that if you have AA and see a flop with 9 other people, you will not win even half the time. I used to play .5/1 at Party and the other skins and have long since given that up after all the crap I've witnessed (simliar to what you speak of). I have moved to $25NL and have fared 100x better. Clearing 15UPTO75 I came down $40 BELOW the bonus!! I couldn't believe it, that is the first time I have lost the whole bonus + more in 10K hands. I am glad that doesn't happen very often because it is a horrible feeling to put in all that time, clear the bonus, and still have LOST money!
Now I am doing IGMPAY at PokerNow but those damn eagles "Decalescent" and "autophage" are always at every single .5/1 limit table.
I am half way through SSHE so hopefully things get better after reading it two or three times.

its all about the long run - if they are sucking out hitting long shots that is good for you - yeah you'll hit some speed bumps but over the long haul you are going ot make money because they are going to miss more than they hit.

I dropped $80 chasing a $100 bonus earlier today, but made it all back in about 20 minutes tonight. This was all at the 25NL tables.
It's the nature of poker, the swings and downturns are umpleasant (especially if your downturn is extended like mine has been) but in the long run (which can be VERY long) a solid player has an advantage that will come through.
