Just bought a Swiss Bank - but they wouldn't take the monopoly money that X.COM issues so I had to give it back.

Anyone have opinions on good online banks? Also opinions on which online credit cards to avoid, etc.

Thanks for a ery professional assessment, Colly - surprising that the US consumer seems to be relatively unprotected in terms of a federal body but the overall philosophy is probably that the individual States are more directly concerned and their general autonomy has to be respected.

It would appear that you need an issue to assume crisis proportions in this industry before the relevant media start reporting on it (which would be another good way to pressure firecash) judging by past controversies. I've referred some of my media contacts to these pages to follow the story but nothing has appeared thus far.

Jetset,

Sorry for the time taken to respond to you- (I had more interesting diversions this weekend!) A ery general legal response but

yes there there are ery strict regulatory rules and watchdogs applying to banks and at a slightly different level finance companies- but they are only effective in regulating operations and listing in Australia, Most of the eccommerce sites used are registered O/S and the law is still ery unclear as to the "source" of operations when in cyberspace- however in the sign up details for those accts- you will generally find a clause re governing law which is usually some liitle offshore country with mimimal or ineffective banking controls.

USA players have even less protection- as the requirement to set up banking operations and regulate are not overseen in the same manner by a federal body and do not require the same level of mimimim shareholder and securites requirements or protective bonds. (which suprises me given the problems previous...

Maybe I was a bit too harsh in judging X.COM.

I just checked my balance, and this is what turned up - and I am not kidding!

Current Balance: $34,359,738.37
Available Balance: $483,699,403,876,796.97

Annual Percentage Yield: 0.00%
Interest YTD: $36,077,725.29

Expect to see me on Time Magazine's cover next week as the richest man in the universe! And also the Guinness Book of World Records as the first and fastest man to become a trillionaire!

I hope when I wake up in the morning they haven't fixed it yet. Otherwise I'm finding (or buying) myself a new bank

Secure servers too. How in the world does stuff like this happen?

I did however pick her up and shake her for the loose change in her pockets and her Plane tickets.

Off to Vegas now!

I just wanted to let everone know my contact at firecash (Stephiane 514-380-2725). She (assures) me that my $2,200 double billing was credited on 08/10/00 and a credit for $376 ATM fees, $10 for new card, $20 for phone calls, and $20 for misc. transaction fees was sent out yesterday. But my account doesn't show it yet. But of course it is my banks fault that the tranactions don't get posted for up to a week or more. Once again good luck to the rest of you. I already get screwed enough by these casinos and don't appreciate having to do their work for 3 days and only recieve $50. I make that much per hour.

I have heard back from ccasino, who gave me $50 credit for compansation (wow!). That is the least I ever deposit. Anyway, I parlayed it into $600, Which I lost. Then the gambler in me said to give them one more chance, so I deposited $200 and parlayed it into $1,100. I withdrew $1,000 and blew the rest. The only thing I don't like is reverse cash-in it is to tempting and delays my refund another 48 hrs (as though it is not long enough)! Now I can only sit back and wait to see if and when I receive the money I am still owed! Good Luck to the rest of you!

Have fun, Erin.

My bank statement shows 8/8. However, the records Firecash have sent me show 8/5, which was the day I was playing Lucky Liner. Funny because I got a slew of records on 8/8, but they were transactions spread out over 2-3 days.

Steve - never mind what I told you in the e-mail - my Lucky Nugget account was triple billed on Tuesday, 8/8. I just confirmed it with my "you have made a difference to us" e-mail that they sent me; that was sent the day I played.

As for Colosseum, I don't know which day specifically was affected, since I played on 8/4, 8/5, and 8/6 some. I don't have the official bank draft to compare with my cashcheck statement yet.

Everyone: Good luck. Let's hope that everyone has their money back by Monday. I'm outta here in a few minutes, going to Vegas - no double-billings there. Playing in a slot tournament - Steve has graciously given me the secret to winning those things. I stand to be RICH after Sunday!

Hmm.

I'm trying out Yahoo Finance now, trying to see if it shows different information than what I am seeing on X.COM.

It was only just now that I realized Yahoo is making the same type of offers. But as far as I know Gomez seems to have the best ones.

I have yet to be ACCEPTED in trying to take up one of their offers LOL.

<edit> Sadly, Yahoo Finance shows exactly the same information as X.COM, although in a slightly different format (withdrawals and deposits are in the same column at Yahoo). So much for trying to glean additional information LOL! </edit>

Actually, my ETradeBank bonus was offered through Yahoo. I am signed up at Gomez but have never done one of their offers-- although I should have, because I signed up for lesser offers elsewhere. I opened ETrade brokerage accounts for myself ($75 bonus) and my wife ($100 bonus) and was feeling pretty proud of myself until I found out I could have gotten $150 at the same time through Gomez.

I'm thinking about trying SFNB, since I already use an SFNB credit card and there might be some synergy there. (But they only offer a $20 bonus...)

LOL James.

Let me heartily NOT recommend X.COM to you. Did you get your bonus through Gomez?

My charges are coming up with an incorrect identifier as well - CF14 instead of CFI4, which is Lucky Liner. I'd really like to know whose fault that is as well - perhaps it's not the bank but Firecash yet again.

LOL Erin!

Perhaps you should also email Firecash and ask them if they intend to do the right thing and compensate people for charges incurred as a result of their error. I have been banging away at them for the past three days and only just got the same email.

Lucky Liner, unfortunately, appears to be in the dark, but I can assert that the support people I have been dealing with are close to incompetent - almost to the point where I'd swear they didn't understand my English LOL.

James - ouch! What really sucks is when it comes directly out of the account, as it does with mine - but as I have been saying all along I am a small player and was lucky enough to get a double credit which negated the double charge.

But poor Kevin above - sheesh! I hope there aren't too many more of you who took a beating from this mistake.

At the same time I have been pounding my bank, X.COM, which did not respond to emails for months - and wires were being rejected, causing me to i...

Never mind.

E*TradeBank is apparently putting random endor identifiers on my firecash charges. So I had four $500 charges which were all labeled with a number corresponding to Vegas Casino Online, when in fact NONE of them were for VCO.

E*TradeBank's web access bank account interface is a piece of **** since they "upgraded" in March. I've only put up with it because I can see the correct information (as it will show on my statement) displayed through Yahoo finance.

I only signed up with them because they gave me a free $50 late last year. I really need to get a new online bank.

Dear Erin,

There appears to have been a duplication of transaction processing from the clearing house to the issuing bank. Please be patient as all of the duplicate charges have already been* reversed and* will be credited back to your account.

Many thanks for your patience and understanding, www.firecash.com

Kevin -

Needless to say that sucks big time. At the ery least I would expect Firecash, or their supposed transactions provider - to pay all the costs incurred through their mistake. That ought to include telephone costs, ATM charges, perhaps a reasonable sum for time incurred as well as inconveniences caused by not having access to your credit for however many days it will be.

They should indeed be held responsible.

I can erifiy that I was double billed on 08/05 $1,450 and 08/06 $750 lost $2,200 bad luck, but no where near as bad as 23 transactions from firecash for $4,400. What a nightmare! Suspending my credit card, calling all companies who use direct withdraw, probably 50 calls and 3 days, $376 in ATM overdraft charges later and still haven't seen a refund. This was from ccasino.com, I had to walk everyone thru the recearch with documentation, statements etc. This included cyber cafe inc., and firecash who blamed it on first aid merchants, whoever they are. This is not the first time this has happened to me, only the worst. This e-cash has to be held to a higher standard and someone accountable for compensation!

I know, this is totally off-topic and out of line, but that word - "irregardless" - just bugs the living you-know-what out of me and I'm cranky to begin with, being out several hundred dollars from this damn "FireCash" thing and all.

Not in my book. In my book that is trying to be honest.

I must say, though, that the warning on my page is a bit inaccurate, in that I say to avoid the casinos - when in fact it should say avoid using the credit card at these casinos. There is nothing wrong with any of the casinos that I know of (with certain exceptions like GP and cronies).

So thanks for pointing that out - I have corrected it.

LMAO.

The whole point is that the warning is temporary because it is warranted. That does not mean stay away from the casinos I advertise.

You don't believe for a minute that I am going to take all the advertising down just for a temporary hiccup? At least I am honest and I post warnings, IRREGARDLESS of whether it affects my advertisers or not. What more would you ask of me?

You cannot call someone dishonest without proof, Steve. You know damn well I call a spade a spade as well - but the facts of the matter were NOT proven by your side, and indeed my opinion is corroborated by emails posted in this thread, myself and Do having received credits.

It has ZERO to do with the advertising dollar. It has EVERYTHING to do with being fair to both sides.

You call it like you see it - but let the gambling public themselves decide whether or not you made the right call. I believe I did the right thing.
