I am glad the OPA determines its approved casinos as it does. There are a good many online casinos that will join the OPA as it continues to grow and the word spreads. It is so nice to know of one symbol at the bottom of the casino homepage that you can count on to know a casino is safe to play in.

The casinos on the OPA recommended list are insured by the OPA for up to $500 for OPA members.
The not recommended list tells members of the OPA to enter at your own risk...and that you are on your own if you get burned by one of them.

That's alright Mary - I'm in the UK, so I've been up for hours and I'm on cup no. 7! Mind you, that's tea not coffee. Now that gives me an idea for a themed casino - how about teaWorld casino? Promo for new players - deposit $1000 get 20 Tetleys teabags. Smallprint is you have to drink all 20 cups before cashing in!

I was joking about that bit The Original Mary!
I understand why you wait for casinos to come to you before evaluating them for the recommended list. However, judging by the posts, my feeling is that most people who have played the eWorld casinos have been satisfied with the service. Given that online gambling can be such a .... gamble (!) why not seriously consider putting them on the list (even though they may have not approached the OPA yet) since ery few outfits do provide fast payouts and prompt customer service. Personally I iew the OPA's recommended... | | Read Entire Entry |

Why casinos have to apply for OPA recommendation:
*In order to make the list, we have to be able to ask them questions about their operation. To troll for casinos offering good service, and then get stonewalled researching them is a waste of time.
It saves steps if they *want* to be on the list.
*Applying for OPA status demonstrates in itself that the casino is interested in establishing dialog with a player group.
Why they don't have to be OPA casinos to be on the not recommended list:
*The OPA is primarily a player protection organization. Gathering information and publicizing bad casinos is our purpose. How many casinos interested in ripping off players are going to join the OPA or make any attempt to be known to the OPA?
Just as the OPA is interested in player complaints, we encourage happy customers to email their favorite casinos and encourage the casinos to make themselves known to the OPA. If you have a list of urls that you would like to bring to... | | Read Entire Entry |

Why should they have to apply for OPA membership to be on a list of approved casinos? If they're providing good customer service they should be on the list automatically once they'd been checked out to the OPA's satisfaction. Afterall, casinos are placed on the not recommended list and I assume they haven't applied for OPA membership!

Given the uncertain nature of online gambling in terms of a casino's honesty, it's great that an organisation like the OPA has a recommended list.
However, having just played another excellent promo today from Club Regal, I was wondering why this casino, together with the other eWorld casinos (Club MardiGras, eWorld, and Americas Online) aren't on the OPA's approved list. Payouts are prompt, bonuses are offered weekly and are usually added within minutes of emailing, and there's 24 hour customer service. With so many dubious outfits operating out there, it's a breath of fresh air to deal with a group like this - but does anyone know why they're not yet OPA approved?
