One peculiarity of Cryptologic is that they pool the accounting. So if you lose $50 to each of 3 casinos, using your credit card, then win $150 at a fourth casino the whole $150 will be credited back to your card.

The sites seem fair enough, after 3 months of playing monthly bonus, I've finally managed to be able to request 2 cheques.

Ahh, Cryptologic is out of Toronto. That may be the reason. It takes a lot of time to check all these gateways and follow them through, so I'll try that Kiwi site tomorrow night and post what I find. (Saturday night).
I've never played on a Cryptologic site. How is it? Fair?

I believe the bouncing through Toronto for Wm. Hill is due to the fact that it is a Cryptologic casino. I think all Crytologics bounce throuh Toronto to keep a handle on the accounting. Why don't you try Kiwi, in New Zealand, or any Cryptologic and see if it does the same and thanks ZeeGambler.

Maybe this also, in part, explains the sloooow speed for Cryptologics. I find it hard to get more than 80 hands per hour at Blackjack whereas at RTG sites I can get close to 400 hands per hour at maximum speed.

Mr Stiv, I received your email. Here are the answers to the four casinos you questioned:

Mapau Casino is redirected to Classic Casino. The Classic Casino website has a server in London, UK, and the actual casino games are played there as well, but on a different server belonging to worldgaming.net (213.219.20.2). They jump overseas through the Globix Corporation URL Gateway.

Pyramid Casino's website is located in Hopkinsville, Kentucky of all places! When you download the Pyramid Casino you are actually downloading right out of Hopkinsville, Kentucky. The games themself, after downloading, and the java games, once again connect to London, UK through the Globix Corporation Gateway. The download itself comes from Virtual Space, a host in Kentucky.

Lasseter's Casino's website server is located in Australia, in a town called Canberra. They use a host called Telstra Internet, also in Australia, in a town called Alice Springs. The games are played right there in Canberra.

Sorry Mr. Stiv, I'll empty that email box today. It is full. I get a ton of marketing offers everyday, it's ridiculous how much I get. Hello "Original Mary", you are ery knowledgeable. I've read some of your items here and at the OPA site. You must work in the industry? You are ery good.

Antigua requires the gaming server, that on which the games are played, be in Antigua or Barbuda. The transaction processing can be anywhere in the world where it's permitted. Costa Rica allows servers to be anywhere. The Kahnawake require the server be in their building. They have one building with all servers in it. I was just there. Every server is locked in a cage, it's own separate one. Only servers owners have a key to the lock, or their authorized techs. Belize allows servers to be anywhere it's legal. Australia requries servers to sit within Australia, and the site must have a .au extension or it can not be run in Australia as real money wagering. In Costa Rica's online casinos, most casino s...

Sorry, Mr. Stiv, it depends.
Kahnawake and Antigua both require the servers be located in their territories. Belize and Costa Rica don't actually issue gambling licenses, so it's not addressed.

Basically, don't rely on it.

Yes there is a simple way to see where the servers are. I have the software that does this. Tell me what casino is in question and I will tell you where the server is exactly for it's sportsbook, and for it's casino. It is typical that a casino and a sportsbook will have it's servers in two different places. You can email me direct at aaron65@apexmail.com
I work in the industry and I can even tell you if the server signs you up at one point and then sends you to another.

What I should have asked is this: if a casino is licensed in a certain country, does that mean the servers must be located in that country?

Why does crap I haven't generated keep popping up in my replies... ads for casinos, for this forum, etc... whenever I try to use HTML?

Apparently no. I confess I haven't read all the licensing rules and regulations for the Antigua Gaming Directorate. However I know the English Harbor Entertainment group that holds an Antiguan licence has its servers in Kahnawake and issues its checks from the Caisse Populaire, Kahnawake (at least to Canadians). I believe there are other examples with Antigua licences and servers in Belize from what I seem to recall from this board.

I guess it would have been easier to ask this: Does the fact that a casino is licensed in a particular country necessarily mean the servers must be physically located in that country?

Hope this doesn't sound too silly...

Yes, but it might require more expertise and tools than most users have at their disposal.

The key is to discover the IP address of the casino. Note that the server for genericcasino.com may not be the casino game server, so that nslookup for genericcasino.com does not necessarily locate the casino game server.

The computer nerd method is to "sniff" the packets while playing at the casino and determine the address associated with them. Some software will request access to the internet using, presumeably, the IP address of the host casino game server. Other software requests access to your.local.IP.server NS. and so the casino game server IP address is hidden. At the time of download the IP address of the download site is available to you, but again this need not be the casino game server.

Once you are confident you have the IP address of the casino a tracert will determine the path between you and the casino and the final steps will suggest a location. Now nslookup i...
