Good point, Cyclopes... although any casino silly enough to build in test routines like that deserves what it gets.

Sometimes to test the software, you create backdoor options where the QA people can specify the outcome of the cards/dice/roll and test whether the software is paying correctly for that particular instance of the game (This may or may not be true all the time)
But having this backdoor helps ease the testing (In case you are testing craps - you don't have to wait to get dice roll a 12).
My guess it probably someone who knew the system may have set this option for everyone to use (willingly or not).
Any other possible explanation?

The hacker would have to disable the software's access to the RNG.
This assumes there is a RNG being used. I doubt that's the case.

Something is rotten here, and its not in Denmark.
From reading these articles it seems as if this hacker was a former employee of Cryptologic, perhaps even a programmer.
But even if the hacker had access to the "back end" of the software, how could s/he set the dice to always come up as doubles. The hacker would have to disable the software's access to the RNG. This sounds highly improbable since the source code was compiled and probably encypted.
Crytpologic must have enough evidence to prove to the insurance company the reason for its loss. Does anyone know if the insurance company has yet made the decision to pay the $1.3 million?
Is it possible that this hacker wanted to prove the the "back end" had a built in cheat function?
Crytologic has always had a good reputa

Our old friend Claude Levy, again.
You'll need a lot more than a grain of salt for this site.

Hacked would be a better word. The slots were coming up all cherries, and the dice were coming up all doubles.
I highly doubt that would be an option in operator settings LOL

It is disturbing that craps could be adjusted at all because it suggests that its odds are not designed to be the same as the physical game.
I've long felt that Cryptologic's BJ game wasn't random. This confirms my suspicions.
I really don't trust Cryptologic's games.

RGT Online reports that someone broke into a Cryptologic server and changed the odds on several slots and craps so that the casinos lost lots of money.
It is disturbing that craps could be adjusted at all because it suggests that its odds are not designed to be the same as the physical game. Slot returns can be adjusted in land casinos, but not craps. In regulated jurisdictions like Vegas and AC, ideo poker has to have the same odds as a 52 card physical deck.
Cryptologic needs to come clean on this.
