Yes, he's right about Austrailia, and I was reading at that rgtonline article about MGM. They won't even be up and running for real money for about a year according to the articles.

Colly - The moratorium in Australia ended about 4 months ago, companies are now free to start up in Australia if they like, however the restrictions in place and the pettiness in the regulations made by people with no clue as to what they are doing (or maybe they do), have it so that it isn't really practical to set up in Australia. That may change in the future, but for now, it is a pretty risky proposition for people wanting to invest money in this industry in Australia.

As for Australian land based casinos... their was talk a while ago about PBL (owners of Crown Casino in Melbourne) starting up an Internet Casino in Vanuatu (same regulations as in Australia, just without all the recent pettiness/restrictions and better tax incentives). Nothing has come of that yet, but they will get there eventually...

Sun is going with Boss!

The OGAM announcement is old news and they have seen the light.

I don't know if they will take bets from North America, though.

MGM/Mir won't. Darn.

Littlewood is going with Cryptologic.

Very good article on www.rgtonline.com by Fred Faust on these events.

LOL - ain't that the truth.

What it usually shows is that they have not done enough research into the online gaming industry. Which begs the question - what in the world are they doing entering the online gaming scene in the first place, then?

Mary.
I hate to be the bearer of somewhat bad news, but Sun International intends to use OGAM software. To see what kind of gaming experience they will offer go to midnight casino.

This in itself tells me that some of these B&M joints don't have a clue what the player wants.

There is a moratorium on any new licences being issued in Australia and retrospective legislation was enacted to make illegal those that tried to get up during the "discussion period"- The license you refer to could not have been issued recently by the Australian or any State/Territory Government.

Hi Mary, D_D,

Do you guys have any information about a land based casino getting an australian gaming licence? (Other than Lasseters)

Also few days back there was a report on BOSSMEDIA talking to a land based casino interested in getting Isle of Man license, MGM/SUN/Littlewood one of them?

Thanks in advance.

Regards
Cyclopes

Sevastou,

Before you spew, you should check your facts. Steve Wynn has nothing to do with MGM/Mirage. He sold out at least two years ago.

You are correct about his having trouble with UK gaming authorities. But as I said, Steve Wynn is no longer involved in any why with MGM/Mirage.

I suggest you keep up with events if you are going to hurl racist insults (yes, your Jewish comment is racist IMO).

Try reading, "Running Scared" by John L. Smith(Barricade Books Inc., 1995,ISBN 1-56980-039-1): the infamous Steve Wynn(is that a Jewish name?), owner of all the above, whose insatiable avarice, and connections to crime bosses, hitmen, junk bond swindlers(remember m. milken, in ery small letters),corrupt politicians, the list goes on and on, supported by facts gathered by Smith of the Las Vegas Review-Journal--Mr. Great Guy Wynn was never allowed a gaming licence in Britain(one of the few places his tentacles couldn't reach because by then his reputation as a ruthless mobster was set in stone):and so, now the sneak, with all his billions, gets little Isle of Man, and we jump up and down, oh, it's bonus time, it's fair-play time on the internet time, and so on with all your conspiring lobbyists writing out long columns of tributes. Disgusting.
