It's 2:30am here, and I am exhausted, so I will keep this brief. It is now officially No 17, and I am happy to report that Cryptologic is still able to process my card perfectly fine. I haven't tried any other deposits since the 15th yet though. Has anyone noticed a harder time getting transactions through?

Trader,
While "plain" NextCard (Visa) has been charging CA fees for a few months the Amazon NextCard hasn't refused a casino charge nor has there been a CA fee charged. Check it out. I've already collected almost $2000 in Amazon gift certificates (just redeemed $500 worth tonight). Of course this could all change soon, but as of now it's working.

Here's another thought/question about it all. The story on the front page made specific mention to proposed US Legislation as one of the two major reasons that Visa is going to actually enforce these policies. However, I wasn't really to clear as to whether these policies will only be enforced in North America (US & Canada) where these problems originate from, or if it will be an International policy for all isa cards no matter what the country of origin is. I wonder about this because I also have a Visa card from my bank in Costa Rica, and wonder if that card will have the same problems as US issued cards.
As far as the subject of selling card information goes, that is a severe felony in most any country that has credit card systems in place, and I really couldn't imagine it being a widespread problem. I'm sure there are a few dishonest operations out there that would take their chances for a few extra dollars, but realistically, if these people have your data they would be doing this sort... | | Read Entire Entry |

With all due respect - this is just semantics. Most banks already reject 7995, there are FEW exceptions.
Naturally, if there are still any VISA issuers who will accept 7995 transactions after November 15th, and you have a few of them, I'm sure many of us would appreciate a list of these institutions.
But as a general rule, VISA cards will no longer be useful for gambling. I agree with Mary, but I also agree with you that there are exceptions.

Sadly for me there have been a lot of changes in just the last few months. It was a short time ago that I was telling you how $35,000 in PayPal or Webdollar deposits would earn a free ticket to Hawaii.
No more.
Now I get cash advance fees if I use a credit card for Webdollar, Cryptologic or PayPal purchases. Those transactions used to be billed as purchases. I now use only my debit card for direct purchase or PayPal purchase. No more free goodies like cash rebates or frequent flyer miles for gambling. No more float on gambling chip purchases. Since the debit card is connected to an interest bearing account I lose interest from the date of purchase or even have to pay interest if the account has a debit balance. Interest rates are so low now that would not be a big problem for a few days, but now many casinos are also taking much longer to refund deposits than they used to, especially RTG sites. If it gets any worse I may have to work for a living.

Mary, Thank you for pointing out that article to me. I read it few times. I suggest you go back and read it again too. No where does it say that VISA will stop online gambling transactions. Here is a copy and paste of the 3 most important paragraphs:
"Visa has announced that as of November 15, 2001 it will be cracking down by auditing all transactions from merchants that offer 'gambling services' in order to protect itself from both lawsuits and legislative prohibitions, as well as what it calls "the possibility of brand compromise" and "the added costs resulting from dispute resolution."
But how does Visa know where the transactions originate? Online gambling merchants are required to use special tracking codes to identify the transactions as gambling services. Some casinos haven't been using the appropriate codes, however, and therein lies the problem that Visa is trying to address.
The goal of the program is to ensure that the casinos are sending t... | | Read Entire Entry |

BonusMania,
You wrote:

Not True!! First USA, Providian, and numerous others, will NOT allow their
Visa cards to be used for on line gambling.
Almost ALL Mastercards don't allow it either.
The few Visa cards that do allow it, are now
charging a minimum $5 cash transaction fee
(or 3%,whichever is more).
It has become ery difficult to use credit cards for on line gambling.

Mary,
You must have a problem with your bank. All of my Visa cards work perfectly fine for online gambling and I make 5 to 6 online gambling transactions every single day. Anyone who tells you VISA no longer works for online gambling is feeding you a crock of crap.
If I remember correctly, you once mentioned that you bank at a credit union. That might be your problem. Open an account at a real bank and you will be fine.

Sometimes, I am such a criminal genius I frighten myself.
If VISA cards will no longer be useful for gambling, that means that many online casinos in possession of VISA information will have no incentive to protect that information.
In fact, selling it is a way to make money from an otherwise useless asset.
Players, be sure to check your statements carefully over the following months. I would not be surprised if accounts once used for gambling suddenly have a major surge in fraudulent charges.
