I'm not going to start throwing out names, but if you are wanting to avoid sites that target college kids, you are going to put together a ery large list of sites to stay away from. Free footballs, magazines, cd's, cell phones, pagers, tickets, and most anything else you can think of are thrown at these guys as comps. This is especially true in the Sports Betting world, as the typical "square" is going to be a white male in his early to mid twenties, this is the college crowd.
These people are, of course, adults, so it's perfectly legal. I personally would opt to not recruit those players. After all, they are full time students with little income of their own, so it seems to make better since to go for the older crowd who is more established in life. But then, I'm not a casino operator, so what do I know.

Isn't the internet great? These people could not get the time of day from serious investors without it. Having seen the press release they get an old economy response from me: "Go away or I will call security."
Thanks for sheddding a little light on these nocturnal insects, Mary.

Woody, I think you've got it. The press releases are to impress c's:
While the Company has raised capital and borrowed funds to meet its current and projected working capital needs, additional financing will be required in order to meet its obligations. The Company is seeking financing in the form of equity and debt for working capital. There are no assurances the Company will be successful in raising the funds required.
The Company has borrowed funds from significant shareholders of the Company in the past to satisfy certain obligations and anticipates continuing to borrow funds to meet future working capital requirements.

Hmm, they seem to be having difficulty squeezing profit out of this novel business model:
Results of Operations -
Three Months ended September 30, 2001 and 2000
REVENUES-For the three months ended September 30, 2001 revenues were $64,740 as compared to $12,875 for the same period last year. The increase in revenues which previously consisted of web hosting fees were a result of consulting and website maintenance fees resulting from a one year consulting agreement set to expire at the end of this calendar year.
COSTS AND EXPENSES-General costs and expenses increased from $380,830 for the three months ending September 30, 2000 to $877,886 for the same period ending in 2001. The increase is largely attributable to consulting and professional fees of which approximately $795,995 was paid with common stock of the Company

Oh, lordy, what a scam. They claim to be a profitable company by being a middleman and use jargon to confuse the stupid.
"Bentley Communications Corp. has a unique business model that sets it apart from most Internet-based businesses. While the Internet has the unique advantage of allowing a business to be operated on a worldwide basis without the need for expensive retail locations, many Internet companies were unable to operate their businesses on a profitable basis. The primary reason that these Internet companies were not successful was due to in-house software development cost overruns and excessive acquisition costs per customer. Bentley believes it has solved both of these problems by using an ``outsourcing business model,'' known as OBM. By using an OBM approach, Bentley is able to effectively control its costs for both product development and customer acquisition. Another significant advantage of OBM is that it allows Bentley to operate its business with only a few employees who a... | | Read Entire Entry |

Well, I put press releases like this in the same category as computer software that is under development (vapourware).
I also think the average college student is more interested in mating games and showing off their skills in ideo games rather than risking their money and exposing their stupidity. Not to say that there isn't some fraction that is addiction prone.
Is this company making private share placements currently?

"Bentley adheres to all state and federal guidelines that prohibit gambling in the U.S. and Canada."
Their business plan to target college students in the US iolates state and federal guidelines. It probably iolates college rules too, and certainly college athletes could lose their eligibility to play if found gambling online.

They must have a new PR consultant - they have also just pumped out a release saying that they are going to take the land-based Nevada casino market to the internet using software from Global Internet Technologies. It is covered in the latest CasinoGazette show going up today.
But you're right - this college targeting doesn't sit well.

A. We're talking a lot of underage players here.
B.We're talking about the worst demographic for maxing out credit cards and mishandling debt
C.As well as ery likely to develop an addiction.
This is, in my opinion, the candy cigarettes of gambling. I support adults gambling. Adults with jobs and no student loans.
