Chargeback problem? So who, if any, is going to fix it?

Mea culpa on the check - I made the common mistake on the url. I note that the announcement that they are closed is dated 16 January btw.

TCO is down for good. Yesterday in chat at Gonegambling - Larry from TCO explained what happened. RTG closed them down for not paying royalties. The reason why they got in trouble was (of course) because of massive chargebacks.

I still can't get TCO to come up. I typed in the url and couldn't get it, then I used the WOL link, and it didn't come up then either.

What url did you use Jetser?

My goodness Grantt you are not difficult to block in your ridiculous and continuous attempts to attack me on this board.

First off you are quoting way out of date and context with the present situation - and what makes it worse is that you know it and are doing it deliberately. That destroys any credibility YOU might have had.

Secondly - note early in this thread the use of the word "temporary" in regard to thecasinoonline closure. In fact the site was operating again when I checked a couple of hours back. I am not defending this casino but let's get the facts right and not cloud a serious issue with dumb personal attacks like yours.

I agree with all of the above with one addition.

There are simply too many. The player base cannot support this many casinos successfully regardless of how good the management is. They should put a moritorium on new casinos until the player base catches up. Needless to, many of these problems would go away if all the casinos had appropriate customer bases.

So an individual can buy software without having to prove they have the funding to do the software provider justice?

If thats the case, then they (rtg) deserve all they get..(in my opinion)

All of that is true. But the ONLY reason the casino is taken off-line is because they are not paying license fees. They can be the biggest bums in the world to their players, but as long as the license fees are paid, they can continue to operate.

Add some math errors--like taking action too big to pay off-- you can get some big winners on Blackjack at $500 a hand. Then throw 20%, 30%, 50% bonuses at players...

The house started gambling, and chasing its losses, and lost.

Joeyl,

Jondo pretty much summed it up correctly.

Add to that, the loss of a big part of
the revenue that came from credit cards,
which are getting much harder to use,
especially in the USA. This, combined with
"poor management decisions" on many of the
"bonus offers", have created the current
situation.

Great software, great games, good bonus, slow pay. They aren't making money with that combination so they change the odds on the games, losing some business and still are losing money and still slow pay. They tighten the rules on bonuses, lose more business. Some casinos are financially strapped from lost business stiff or hassle some winners. Complaints are ignored, rumors start. Players don't sign up others cashout causing a run on the bank. Crash!

Joeyl,
you posted; "Can someone give me a quick rundown of how casinos from a certain software group go out of business?
I ask this believing that RTG casinos seem to be in the melting pot at the moment(judging by posts).

What is it?

The software not doing its job?

More like "Management" not doing it's job.

Running an on line casino is NOT the
"get rich quick" scheme that many of the
"owners" thought it would be.

Many went into this enture under capitalized, thinking there was "no way"
that they would need extra cash reserves
once the money started "rolling in".

Looks like they were wrong.
Operating an on line casino is not the "goose that laid the
golden egg" like they imagined.

I just received the following email from Worldplay. Looks like they are going to make good on their promise.

Dear *****

Great news from WorldPlay Casino!

As you may know, WorldPlay Casino is no longer in operation. Eventhough
the casino is not in operation, we still keep our promise of service
toward our customers. That is why your Paypal withdrawal will be approved
by the casino management.

Since we can no longer process withdrawals through Paypal, a check will be
sent to the address we have on file.

Please accept our apologies for any inconviniences this delay may have

The Casino Online was offering a 35% bonus just this past weekend. I deposited $500 to the casino on January 12 (4 days ago). My cashout request was for $600.

Is anyone sure this is another Casino Merlin situation? Sometimes casinos really do have technical difficulties. But with both the web site and casino down, things look ery bad. Also, the customer support phone line is inoperative. I've got almost $800 at risk (lost?) with Merlin and now $600 with Casino Online. Is Casino Online a Safebet casino (not that that would be a lot of help)?

To my knowledge, Worldplay wasn't a sister to any other casinos. I had played extensively here for over a year. Even when some other RTG casinos started slow pay/no pay; Worldplay still paid me in a timely fashion.

Now the good news, I just received an email from Worldplay stating that even though they have shut down; they are going to pay what they owe. I have to send some documents but at least they haven't run away like The Casino Online.

I'll post when and if I get paid.

Maybe nobody wanted to be the first. They all held some dilusion that things would turn around. No they realize it's not going to happen.
Maybe the ecash processors who they been having problems with them for long time decided to stop accepting deposits from players realizing that the casinos weren't/couldn't pay the players back their deposits, let alone winnings. I get the feeling that if it we're the casinos option they would just keep accepting those deposits even after they closed shop.

Casino Merlin
The Casino Online
Worldplay

This is Too much. This is getting entirely to Global for RTG. Everyweek there is another major development. Any chance Merlin and the Casino Online are connected and does anyone know if there are any other sisters to this one. There must be since multibles are common at RTG.

Theres still no reason why they dont pay you the money you won. If you proved you're you, I dont see what their problem is. I guess they figure you'll just go away and be happy with the fact that they were nice enough to give you the credit back.

Today I officially heard back from Safebet. It seems that I was locked out because they locked out my cousin and they think I am the same person.

His middle name is my first name.

Ryan Ray- My cousin
Christopher Ray- My father
Ray Michael- Me

My grandfathers middle name was Ray and he named all of his sons with "Ray" somewhere in their name. When they had children, they continued the tradition as a respectful thing in my family to do. I will do the same when I have children.

I faxed them my ID to prove myself and they did not believe the evidence in front of their eyes. However, they must have been a little skeptical about their firm stance because they credited back my credit card all of the way. I am at least happy with that.

Larry Thom,

I have played and won at your casino three weeks ago. After I won $350, I was locked out and told to send the fax back form and ID.

I sent the proper forms immediately. After I sent them, I was told to resend them as my photo was too dark. I know this was a stall tactic, but complied anyway. After I sent two more shades of my ID, my account (username "guru") was not reopened.

I called and emailed endlessly. I was ALWAYS givin an excuse, and never a straight answer. Finally, here is the email I received from Lou in your customer service.

This is the latest installment in emails.

I just emailed you your tracking status from UPS. Your check is in transit. I have no idea why it was not showing up on there system last night when you checked.
Our computers went off line to install an upgrade and possibly when you called that is the time that they were. I can do some more investigation to find out the exact times if this is the information that you require?
If there are any other questions or concerns please feel free to email me.

Prosperity,

hey, it's an excellent example of what really happens in the wonderful world of online gambling. About 30% of the time there's some kind of screwup, and a gambler has to learn the gentle art of The Polite Email and the polite Phone Call to nudge the check/transfer/bonus on its way out the door.

I am now feeling a little weird having to come here and update all the time.

Before anyone gets the wrong idea I ask you to look at my first post. I was basically telling Mr. Wolfe that I had played here and had success.

I fully expected to have a check from express mail at my door and come back all happy and post the good news. By the way this would have been my first check from a casino. I have just started on line.

Well now I find myself having to come back and post so I am fair in reporting all the effort Mr. Thom is putting in.

Just wanted to get that off my chest.
