Let me add one more thing to garyzimmer's question. If you won 49 hands and lost 51, that would be a disadvantage of 2%. It is more complicated to calculate the overall return in bj than by just count the number of hands won/lost as you also have to take into account double downs, splits, and the 3/2 payout on bj. You will lose quite of bit more than 50% of your hands but the added money your receive from the doubles etc. make the game closer to breakeven.

Er... you're welcome. finally saw the post. Yes, Caruso has it pretty much as I would have put it. My point was that this little 0.6% edge is probably better than what the average card counter can get on a typical multi-deck game.

Caruso--

Thanks for the figures! Math is not my forte so I'll decipher your formula 'step by step' until it is clear to me!

I'm sure DrOakland would have given me the same information had he seen the post, so I'll say thanks to him as well.

I want to fully understand all aspects of the online gaming world or, certainly as many as possible.

I marvel at the information some of you have and am curious as to how you obtain it. I know there is a great deal of shared knowledge on the board but someone has to search it out to begin with.

Thanks again!

No Doc, but what the hell.

The house will win c. 5 hands more than the player per 100 dealt in any game; the percentages refer to the actual financial return on money wagered, not hands won or lost.

Assuming a random game (big assumption here) the Microgaming "single deck" has a house edge of c. 0.15%; ie. for every $100 wagered, the house hold is about 15 cents; you can work out your bonus-assited advantage accordingly: bonus percentage offer divided by playthrough requirement minus the house edge; so for the Crazy Vegas deal: 15% bonus; 20 times playthrough; 15 / 20 = 0.75; minus house edge (1.5) = 0.6% player advantage.

Alternatively, subtract your expected loss from the bonus, eg. $10,000 deposit; £1500 bonus; playthrough = $200,000; minus 0.15% (300) = $1200 remainder - 0.6% of the given action.

DrOakland--You stated the following:

"But even with 20x play, the bonus does still have alue, and when playing Microgaming single deck (house edge about 0.1%), the edge swings to the player at maybe 0.6%, which is as good as many card counters do."

Please enlighten me! In iew of my own mathematical skills, there is no way I'm going to question yours!

I'm simply asking you to 'sort of' break it down for me.

When you say the house has a 0.1% advantage, I believe you're saying that for every 100 hands dealt, the house will win 51 and the player will win 49, the end result being that the player (making $10 flat bets) ends the cycle of 100 wagers, down $10.

Playing another 100 hands, he is down $20. That comprises the 20 times through assuming a deposit of $100, and he earns the bonus.

Playing another 200 hands, he has lost another $20 totaling $40 lost and is now eligible to cashin $60 of the $100 bonus.

Do I have it right?
