Decided to go check out Mahjong Luck, whom I must confess I had never heard of before.
Must be a good reason why I hadn't heard of them, because there were all of like 4-5 players there. And the first screen of the software is so ugly I had to wonder if it would ever make any progress...

Not so sure Mahjong Luck was the first as they claim - Intertops had also had a beta Mahjong site in operation sometime last year at http://fatchoising.com.
In fact, I had considered this myself with a partner who shall remain unnamed - but we didn't get going fast enough and so we have dropped it.
As for Asian card games, I have been investigating that too for more than a year - but on back burner now while other things are being done. Meant for table games rather than slots - so baccarat was not one of those games considered. Choh Dai Dee (Big 2) was more what I had in mind.
DHCM - slots may not be particularly popular with the Chinese, but one of the reasons is because the payback is set so low in the real casinos. There isn't a slot machine in Macau that would ever survive in the US. Another is simply that they don't trust them - maybe because the paybacks are so low.
Whether or not Chinese players will take to slots remains to be seen - that will take some time ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Mary - You took the words out of my mouth. Mahjong would be my first pick for a card/tile game that would translate well into a slot game of some kind.
The other thing would be to translate baccarat.
However, I still have my doubts about whether Asian players can ever be convinced to play slots in any olume, even with popular card games being converted to a ideo game. (See the Tweaking Software thread at http://www.winneronline.com/ubb/Forum1/HTML/003656.html and the specific post on 2/9/02 05:14 a.m. for why this is).
Mary -- thanks for the de idea! Do you want a royalty cut?!!

Drho
I wouldn't recommend offering $10 free no deposit to customers because of your probable ROI. It's just less expensive than $240 per customer. What I find is your best bet is to spend a large portion of your advertising dollars on your existing customers. You are better off spending $50 or whatever you choose on a good existing customer than $50 on a poor or bonus hunting customer. Check your data and find out who looks like a good candidate for a bonus and drop it on them unsuspectingly. That I think you will find pays off in a much greater way. Then of course good search engine placement is ery important as well. If you are using a company already and getting good results and it's not costing you an arm and a leg great. Otherwise let me know.

Interesting no-collusion mechanism; by limiting all games to only two human players, nothing is gained through collusion.

I'll step up to the Video Poker question...
Boss Media's ideo poker isn't the best, because it doesn't have exlempary paytables and it has teeny weeny cards and teeny weeny buttons so it is physically difficult to play.
Cryptologic's ideo poker also has teeny weeny cards and teeny weeny buttons, but it also has a 99.9% return game and a great reputation for honesty (except for those stupid handcuff bonuses, but most recreational players don't mind them)
Microgaming has the best ideo poker interface, and has multi-play ideo poker, which is addictive; but is in iolation of international intellectual property rights of IGT and Action Gaming. Paytables are average.
Boss, as a publically traded company with connections in the land industry, would not want to get into a court fight with IGT!
Realtime Gaming also has excellent Video Poker interface, and some of the RTG sites used to offer 100% games. They got hit by good players and accused them of robot play--a go... | | Read Entire Entry |

Thank you Dr Ho Manager for explaining some of your marketing costs to a humble gambler.
From a business standpoint I think your post shows why the established and knowledgeable land based casinos will have such an advantage over the majority of online casinos now open when US laws are changed to allow them to compete online. They will be advertise to their own extensive database of real gamblers rather than the freebie hounds that now populate the internet. I was on a bulletin board of a site called FreeRide.com and when the question of online gambling came up, there was one post after another about how they only sign up for the "no deposit required" bonuses. Advertising is ery expensive when so much of it is wasted on people who have no intention of risking their own money.

You want to know what I think Mr.Ho?
When Boss was single deck BJ it was one of the best.
It still is the best when it comes to Craps.
You guys just don't compete anymore when it comes to promos.
One of my favorites was USA Casino. Second, was Atlantic.
Guess what?
Too many bonus offers from others.
Nothing from USA and Atlantic to keep me there.
One more thing.
Scroll down to the craps question.
A lot of USA players love craps.
But They want true odds.
Boss (YOU?) have them.

grantt -- so bottom line, would you objectively advise a casino to do a $10 free registration offer? On an ROI (return on investment) basis?
My guess is not, because you're advocating other media that has a better shot at getting novice, first-time online gamblers.

joeyl - to tell the honest truth, I actually know ery little about the mathematics of VP. This is because we offer it in only one of our online casinos (www.drholite.com), which is a BossMedia product, and most Asian players hate slot machines in general (both in our brick and mortar casinos and in the BossMedia product). (To put this in perspective, if we get $10,000 of action on our VP game in a day, that would be a lot, as opposed to several million on our baccarat tables in both our www.drholite.com and www.drho888.com products.) I also understand that U.S. players aren't wild (to put it mildly) about the BossMedia VP game anyway.
Bottom line - I simply don't know enough about the game itself, and there's no one in Macau that I can call, so I just can't answer your question. There are some real math geeks on this board, however, and I bet they can comment. zrapture? croupier? eintstein? tester? These people appear to be quite knowledgeable about VP.

You would get approximately the same amount sticking around after the $10 deal as the $240 per customer deal. Both is an extremely low number. Your best bet is good search engine positioning under specific related terms. You can brochure cars in Vegas and do radio adverts on the Howard Stern show as well if you like. There are lots of methods to get trafic.

thank you for clearing that up about how winners offset losers
i still dont see how i could lose in the long run if i just refer my self and bet 1 big hand of black jack every month and get 25% of my losses back if they pay u monthly unless the casino is cheating u. i know if i played a land casino i would beat it silly .

Anyone else willing to put me straight?
I reckon a 9/6,5000 coin Royal would attract alot of play/players.I asked Dr Ho.
The basic sum would be ;Increased turnover, players and play - extra 1000 coins per royal payout=I don't know the answer, maybe you can tell me how crazy i am?

If you are an affiliate with 1 player winning $100 and 1 player losing $100 then you recieve $0 - the losing player offsets the winning player.
As to your queries on % winnings you can read this old post and if you still have questions then I'll try answer them for you.

ok can someone explain how these casino afiliate programs work? i keep reading about them 25 to 50% of players for a lifetime of the player ????? WOW
OK i understand that they all work diffrently. i think u get paid every month is that right? ok if so lets say u got 2 people and they both put in lets say $100
and one guy loses -$100 his name is Bob.
the other guy his name is Jeff he also puts in $100 jeff wins +$100. so now becouse Bob lost $100 but jeff won $100 that means that the casino broke even on 2 diffrent people. now do u still get your 25% of Bobs loss so now u make $25 or does jeffs win offset bobs losses so now u are at 0% if u do get the money from bobs loss and it does not get offset by jeffs win how can a casino do that unless they cheat the players? come on tell me how a casino can have an average pay out of 95%. but give out 25% of losses. lets think about this lets say Bob and Jeff play black jack. lets they are ok black jack players u know they play as close to basic strad... | | Read Entire Entry |

You can literally get as many customers as you want by offering them $10 free with no deposit in the promotions section on forums. $10 is a hell of a lot less than $250 per customer but be prepared for over a 1000 a day I kid you not. The best way and least expensive way to get traffic to your site is good search engine placement under specific related search terms. The problem is that most sites have no idea how to do this or pay a ridiculously high price to a SEO that can't get good results. I have had ery good success in this field and I am going to be branching out into it if anyone is interested.

Okay Dr Ho.You shoot slightly over my head, but i do gather its about the same world over regarding business.Bottoms on seats and good management.
"Units" would be a one word explanation?
I'm about to go into quite a long one here,so please humour me some more..
Right, well;i play ideo poker,Jacks or Better only.Baccarat is tedium extroadinaire and Blackjack just as monotonous.J or B would be too except the jackpot is my saviour. Now,i propose to you that if one were to try to corner the real depositers and/or gamblers (value hunters too,not just bonushunters)who like Video Poker, then a 100% payout machine at a decent casino might be the thing to do it.If you were to offer a 9/6 ersion with an approximately 5000 coin payout for a royal, you would lose nothing extra unless one hit a royal.Smaller hands would be the same payout as the norm, therefore you would lose nothing there.Players may chase the Royal harder, therefore increasing turnover(big word in any business),there... | | Read Entire Entry |

joeyl -- that's what I've been trying to say implicitly in this and other message threads (particularly the ones discussing the topic of bonus hunters). Don't get me wrong -- casinos are a good business, but they're not necessarily licenses to print money. They're no different than non-gaming businesses -- there are overheads and margins and capital requirements, etc.
So many of the casinos out there are run by non-professional owners and managers. (And I don't just mean non-professional gaming managers, I mean non-professional business managers). Whenever you see a casino go down without paying its customers, or retracting bonuses, or whatever, you can bet your last dollar that someone made some type of business mistake, usually because he didn't understand how all of his decisions (such as marketing, bonuses, olatility, whatever) could impact the bottom line. And if he's undercapitalized and make these mistakes -- well, there goes the business.

"There are some webmasters out there who are trying to do CPA deals for as high as $250 per new account opened..."
If a casino is willing to spend $250 a customer for opening a new account, who needs a webmaster in between? An offer like that on the site would be news and get publicized for free!

joeyl - when you plan out media buys for an online casino, webmasters can charge casinos in a ariety of ways, ranging from:
Impressions -- We pay a certain fee up front to have our banners shown x million times to web site isitors.
CPC deals -- "Cost per Click" i.e. we pay up front for a webmaster to deliver a certain number of clicks on a banner ad.
CPA deals -- "Cost per Account" i.e. we pay either up front or after the campaign for every account that is opened as a result of a campaign.
RevShare/Affiliate -- No money changes hands up front; the casino just pays to the webmaster a % of the revenue earned by the players who were referred by a particular banner campaign.
The difference, of course, is who bears the risk of the campaign performance. A casino can easily buy millions of impressions, or even clicks, from arious webmasters, but this does not mean that the impressions or the clicks will turn into paying customers. You can easily ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Hi all,
Just saw this link over at Casinomeister's and was wondering if anyone else had any experience with them.
http://www.1300bucks.com/
They say they'll give you $50 for each account you create, provided you follow their links for it.
Sounds a bit too good to be true to me. Is this for real, and if so, how in the world do they do it?
