Yup. 3 dice.

Needless to say, I don't play that game much any more

Spear, that's a pretty bad run.
Odds of no 6 appearing in the next 26 throws?
1 in 1,500,158.65

Yikes! You did mean 3 dice being thrown, right?

I learned this the hard way - 26 consecutive rolls without a single 6 coming up - and in a land-based casino to boot!

BJinfo is right.
This is a common mistake when we try to figure out the odds. In fact I made the same mistakes from time to time.
To better understand why the odds cannot be add up, consider you flip 2 coins once. What's the chance of getting at least one face?
The outcome can be
face,face (25%)
no face, face (25%)
face, no face (25%)
no face, no face (25%)
As you can see, you have 25% chance not getting a face so the chance of getting at least one face is 1-25%=75%, not 50%+50%=100%.

Using your method, if they rolled 12 dice, you'd have a 200% chance of rolling your number? I don't think so!

To figure the probability you want, figure the chances that each dice does NOT roll your number and work backwards.

5/6 of the time each dice will not be your number. The odds that all three of the dice do not roll your number are therefore 5/6 * 5/6 * 5/6.

Probability of at least one of the dice rolling your numbers is 1 - (5/6^3), or 0.4212963

Hi, can some people comment on the following debate I am having regarding Sicbo odds and the House Advantage. I am under the impression if I bet a straight number (whichs pays even money if it shows up once) my chances of hitting this number is 50% and zero HA since three dice are rolled. According to Wizard of Odds the HA is 7.87%. I do not see this if three dice are rolled don't I have a 50% of my number coming out (1/6+ 1/6 + 1/6 = 3/6 or 50%.
Here is the link to the forum.

Thanks
Rbon
