All,

Well I suppose jetset and bonuslover have done Virtual City's job for them. I suppose there is no telling how many times they have had to grieve with the ictims of internet gaming. I am indeed lucky it was not more that was entured.

As Sinatra said, I suppose the best revenge is big success. I plan on trying to win big at Virtual City and then leaving them cold. I would also encourage anyone else who plays there to do the same.

Thanks again for all the sound advice. See you the next time I get screwed.

I ery much doubt that you are in any danger of getting banned right now, stickyone - Max is not the ogre that he is sometimes made out to be!!

Despite the small amount involved, I sympathise with you and deplore the cavalier manner in which you seem to have been treated - that last email was a real doozy and perhaps a good example for you to use in your "how not to" training sessions in your customer service company.

GG is often, as she says "direct" but she has sound knowledge and experience and is worth listening to, as is the case with other members of this board.

I hope your online gambling activities improve and are perhaps balanced in the future with better interactions with the many good operations that are out there. This is a good place to find them.

well everybody has his/her opinions
i agree that a complaint is a complaint no matter how much it is involved.
i also agree with GG that it is indeed a cheap lesson and if you are gonna keep gambling online, you have to be ready (or at least mentally prepared) when you are screwed for $20, $200, or even $2000

To my detractors and followers:

Customer service is my business. The fact is that had the customer service department handled me differently at Virtual City I would not be this upset. Using customer service skills in written responses rather than canned email responses is a much better way to handle customers. My next project will be to talk to a live person provided they will let me.

Gamble Girl:

I am sure you are ery knowledgeable when it comes to internet gaming. Not so knowledgeable about how to handle complaints and people though. All complaints count. The big ones the little ones and everything in between. My comments towards you were rude and inappropriate and for that I apologize as you apologized for your part.

Blue:

You are the eye of the storm. You are an excellent mediator and are careful and thoughtful with your words and suggestions. Still disagree with you about casino regulation though. Remember the days of telephone slamming.(your p...

As anyone who has read here at WOL over the past couple of years I'm fairly direct in my criticism of online casno's and on occassion poker rooms. If you mistook this as a personal attack or flippancy it wasn't. I was simply saying that anyone playing online should expect to encounter problems which defy reasoning. And as someone already pointed out "losing" $20 in this manner is a rather cheap, albeit unpleasant education. Many of us have not been so fortunate to have gotten away so cheaply. Count yourself lucky.

stickyone,

This type of thing happens in every industry - literally every industry. Terms and conditions issues, or companies not providing full disclosure is rampant everywhere - and just because an industry is "regulated" often means nothing to you the consumer.

Think about the daily dealings around North America with the car industry, the building/development industry, the hospitality industry (T&C issues with hotel registrations and charges are mountainous), the telecommunication industry and on and on.
Being regulated amounts to jack when you've just been charged $75 for a 9 minute long distance call at the Hilton (which happened to a frined a week ago). Yeah, he bitched and is still dealing with them, with threats of calling different bureaus and agencies/consumer affairs - the hotel essentially laughs at the "regulatory" angle.

I hate to break the news to you, but I highly doubt you not getting your $20.00 freeroll entry due to the T&a...

It is almost like they are afraid to admit their description of the freeroll is wrong. Goodness knows how many unwitting players at the .25/.50 ring games have been wrongfully denied entry into the freerolls because of Virtual City's blatant lack of regard for detailing the proper terms and condidtions.

It is amazing that they quote terms and conditions to me that were never really a part of their website. This would be a "no brainer" if online casinos and poker rooms were regulated. As it stands now, there is absolutely no accountability for player wrongdoing or casino/poker room wrongdoing. It seems that online casinos and poker rooms are at war with their own customers.

My next letter will be to Washington DC. Some hot shot new Congressman needs a new pet project I am sure. If online gaming can't be done right, I think it should be outlawed until regulated. I can wait a couple of years to build my bankroll. When it comes back and is done right the public will have more...

Clearly a case of poor communication on their part. There seems to be a continual list of problems with casinos and their transparency with the Terms and Conditions - that if handled properly would cut down on a ton of customer service resources and complaints like this on the boards.
I'm surprised they haven't offered up a freeroll entry to make up for the situation.

Well, no need to bicker. On the face of it, they certainly are guilty of poor communication regarding their terms and conditions. It's a shame, but count yourself lucky it only cost you $20. They are in the wrong, but that and $4.50 will buy you a latte.

Gamble Girl:

Not about the $20.00 at all.

Seriously, if this is the best advice you are capable of giving maybe you should consider not replying at all. I have plenty of other chat forums who have at least offered to help.

I find your comments both condescending a rude. It is a shame that people like you are even allowed to help. Maybe your Daddy owns the site for all I know. Or maybe you are an employee of Prima Poker.

Anyway, thanks for your smart-ass remarks and for offering absolutely zero help. I think a great career in furhter pissing people off awaits you.

I look forward to your reply, but I doubt I will see anything from you again.

Thanks for your reply.

I deposited 20.00 and plyed for about 2.5 hours before losing all of it. Not a lot of money for sure, but I did meet their requirement according to the tournament description. If you have access go in to their site at the multi-table tab and click on $1000 freeroll. There you will find the bogus description in all its glory. They are so brazen about it they won't even acknowledge the description is wrong or incomplete at best.

I have asked for a freeroll entry as a remedy or the return of my $20.00. The only reason I risked the 20 in the first place was to get into the freeroll only to get "screwed" in the end. I hate being mislead and then being quoted terms and conditions that are transparent or nowhere to be found on the site. What a crock!!! And their customer service seems oblivious every time I point it out to them which is now going on about ten times. What a bunch of idiots!!!!

What do you suggest that I do now besides just swallo...

I recently became a member of Virtual City Poker because I was told they had liberal freeroll tournaments with the opportunity to play for real cash simply by meeting their raked hand requirements.

I isited their site and played over 100 raked hands in a .25/.50 fixed limit game with .12 small and .25 big blinds. I then went to their multi table section and located a $1000 freeroll tournament with the following description. This is a $1000 freeroll tournament. Please not that play on .10/.20 and .05/.10 will not count toward the raked hand requirement. This did not bother me much until I tried to register for the freeroll itself.

When I did a message came back stating that I had not met the freeroll requirement. At the time, and based on the tournament description I knew this must be incorrect so I contacted support. They then provided a link to terms and conditions from Prima Poker who runs their freerolls and in those terms it states that play in real games with blinds less than ...
