They advertise on whenu and they are not all casinos - casino prophet for instance is a portal.

It is because of these folk's support for malware that it even exists.

I understand that whenu is supposed to stop taking gambling ads.

Most of the music download programs come bundled with malware, and I heard that Casinoonnet recently bought out Ezula's ads for the year.

Free screensaver and free smilie programs also usually come bundled with malware.

Many sites you go to that have no or little advertising, such as sites that display song lyrics, have the driveby type of malware and it jumps you without your knowledge unless you watch out. Many free games sites do too - (NOT gamesandcasino, my free games are clean!!!...

I agree. And even some casino programs/sites have "spyware"/"malware" or whatever, i receommend that you don't panic in every alert.

I can say, that example "Microgaming Malware" (in Ad-Aware), is totally harmless, and i believe that almost everyone know about this "Golden Palace malware".

In particular, every time WhenU shows a user a pop-up advertisement, WhenU transmits to its servers the specific URL the user had been iewing prior to receiving the advertisement...

Whenever a user isits a web page and is shown a WhenU advertisement, according to WhenU's advertisement-targeting algorithms, WhenU's software sends a message to a WhenU web server. Among other information, this message includes the specific web page URL that the user was iewing prior to being shown the advertisement. A typical WhenU transmission looks like the following, sent to a WhenU web server at web.whenu.com during recent tests:

GET /offerb?url=fci_cheaptix108&pattern=akwdId_20_2944&patid=A20_2944

Aceclub and Starluck are Iglobal casinos and have their own software, and Starluck is among the ten most played casinos. (please don't ask me for the list - I don't remember it.) It is unlikely that they would ever join Gambling Federation.

Regarding spyware removers tagging some casino cookies as bad guys - they do that to all kinds of harmless cookies. Cookies are good for you in most cases, and harmless the rest of the time. When they first came out, people were scared of them and they have never been able to shake that reputation. They are just simple pieces of information. Like for example, WOL has a cookie on your computer - that is why you don't have to login with your password everytime. The cookie identifies you and that is all it does.

Spyware removers have become big business, and one of the ways they try to set themselves apart is by claiming to remove more bad programs than others. In that advertising effort, they have decided to remove many harmless items such as cook...

Thankyou Mary for the heads-up - I know the majority of members here appreciate the info you provide

Is AceClub actually owned by Starluck etc, or is it just the same software?

If so, then Starluck wiill join G-Fed as casinos I will never ever play at again.

The person I found most knowledgeable about spyware/thiefware/malware/adware is Ben Edelman.

Here is his latest update:

Quote:

* Spyware legislation in Congress. Rep. Bono's "Securely Protect Yourself Against Cyber Trespass Act" purports to be tough, and it still seems to have considerable momentum. But my analysis suggests it's actually quite a weak bill -- letting many misleading installation methods continue, and granting enforcement only to the FTC (which so far has been notoriously slow to take action). See my full analysis:

Here's an excellent article about malware, short and sweet:

http://castlecops.com/modules.php?n...rticle&sid=3509

You can get malware not just from downloading a program. You can also get it from spam or even isiting a web site.

Ok, here's a site that will tell you how to remove it manually:

http://www3.ca.com/securityadvisor/...px?id=453073608

Ad-aware, Pest Patrol and others may also remove it; I haven't gone over their libraries yet. (update: yes, Pest Patrol removes it. Since it dates from 2002, probably Ad Aware does too).

Got to say, this is an interesting reaction and not what I expected. How about "Thanks, Mary, for doing the IGC's job for them and actually looking for casino software spyware and trojans."?

This appears to be spyware that creates popups, i.e., what the GPWA has been campaigning against and what Casino On Net has used for years. It is hidden within some other program that the user downloads and installs such as Gator or Kazaa. What is bad about it is that:

*The computer user is downloading something they didn't intend to have

*It changes settings on the user's computer without permission

*It iolates the user's security...

What exactly does Ace Club casino do? Does it install some software other than the casino or does the casino read your files while you are playing?

What exactly is the spyware in Ace Club casino? How is it different from other iGlobalMedia casinos? I have my reservations about an anti-spyware site that advertises the Alexa toolbar.
