This is Total bullsh*t and i'll tell you why. When you are at a final table you play a strategy based on payout. You might play more weak tight or aggressive based on your stack size and the payouts.... ridiculous!

in your situation it would almost always a winner-take-all thing
though if the casino has promised it would be a split that's a different story
see, the player who got first could have complaint to the manager why the tournament wasn't winner take all as usual and of course his argument might have sustained

You could go over to www.casinomeister.com and "pitch a bitch".
I don't see anything in their rules online that addresses your situation. They definitely should fix that.

Pokerhost is the poker room for SBG Global, a longstanding offshore sportsbook in Costa Rica (I believe).
This sounds like another case of a miscommunication (or poor communication from the poker room), with the operator doing a miserable job of handling the customer service side of the issue.

Hi its Kim O'Leary (CasinoKim). I have to tell you about the NIGHTMARE that happened to me on 3/20 after placing 2nd in a huge tourny at poker host. If you want to call me about this after reading it, my number is 781-599-1504. here goes:
I won my way to a WPT event through a satellite. I played in it on 3/20, the tourny started at 4:00. 1st place was supposed to go to Reno for the WPT. But since the total prize pool was$5612, less than the prize package worth $6,100 according to their web site http://www.pokerhost.com/tournament-structure.htm (look at WPT section line 9) we were competing for money instead. Thats how it was posted in the lobby the whole tournament and that was what we all tought as players. I made it to second place. The announced prize pool was as follows: 1st, $2806.00 , 2nd $ 1683.60, 3rd $1112.40. The first place winner was ChicoEJ, then me CasinoKim3, Third was hitman.
