Enough is enough. I should NOT repeat NOT have to email ANYONE to stop constant SPAM from a Casino Group that I have used almost exclusively for about 5 years.
If I am still getting them after 31st December 2005 I will not be playing at Fortune Lounge any more.
Casinos have a responsibility in regards to players and their privacy (what is left of it) and its time they were made accountable by players oting with their cash.

My e-mail account that I only use for WOL, Casinomeister, Bet2gamble, Gamesandcasino and TheRx.com started receiving Fortune Lounge and African Palace spam a few weeks ago. The only explanation is that I used this e-mail address to correspond with some WOL members, and one of the thought it would be a great idea to sign me up for some spam. What's even stranger is that I also got two e-mails saying that a request to remove my e-mail from the list had been received, but it had already been removed. Needless to say, I did not make these requests.

The bottom line is this - the SPAM that this clown is sending is promoting Fortune Lounge - and whether they describe him as an affiliate or a publisher or a acuum cleaner salesman is irrelevant.
FORTUNE LOUNGE NEED TO STOP THIS NOW!
There is no doubt that being constantly bombarded by offers from casinos that you have had accounts with for years is counter-productive. FL may get some new players out of it (and Im sure they do) but I dont think its worth the damage that is being caused to their reputation.
I am really disappointed as a VIP member at FL that they would continue to allow this kind of thing to happen - its making me re-think about my future there as it seems that something that is impacting loyal regular players is being ignored.
C'mon FL.... dont lower your standards by defending this guy....listen to your players and do the right thing.

For our studio audience, Grandmaster here is engaging in sarcasm. It's Fortune Lounge's defense that lowly affliates can't spam but "publishers' (with "publisher codes"in their spam identical to "affliliate codes") can.
Clearly, Fortune Lounge has no control over "publishers". I guess one of the things that distinguish "publishers" from "affiliates" is their advanced coercive techniques that make Fortune Lounge send them checks. I can't decide if advanced weaponry or blackmail is involved; perhaps even psychic powers. It is a pity that this power cannot be used to serve the forces of good.

The difference seems to be that this guy can spam with impunity. Affiliates are terminated after 3 justified spam complaints, at least according to http://www.fortuneaffiliates.com/af...forward=Spam_FA .

I sent my email address with my request to no longer receive Fortune Lounge marketing messages from third parties to:
bryan@casinomeister.com
andrew@ecogra.org
After five days, the spam stopped; so far it has not resumed.
I will be sure to post here if it starts up again, from any marketer hired in any capacity by Fortune Lounge.
I still receive offers *appropriately targeted to me as an existing customer of Fortune Lounge from Fortune Lounge* and I'm ok with receiving them.
There's no justification for sending sign-up offers to existing customers; for having inconsistent and ineffective unsubscribe options; for allowing any third party marketer to mail from multiple sources; for allowing any third party marketer to insert false information in the routing to evade spam filtering software. It's ridiculous that I as a Fortune Lounge customer had to involve Casinomeister and eCOGRA at all in stopping active harrassment in the form of multipl... | | Read Entire Entry |

Complaints are starting to build up at the other site, and that gives concrete evidence in the fight to get FL to address this in an honest and determined manner instead of hiding behind these disingenuous "jealous affiliates", "not many complaints", "third party contractor" excuses. It also gives the lie to FL claims that their spam is not a widespread problem.
Interestingly, one poster over there says she has managed to achieve some success in stopping this FL spam by submitting a complaint to spam@aol.com.
Another says that attempts to get pops to take action floundered because....his filters nailed the complaints!!!

I agree with you joeyl, they have had plenty enough time to address this nosense and have chosen to take no action. LOL @ their front page disclaimer; instead they have chosen to enter into homepage link exchanges with portals. Hard up for some coverage, if theyd only do their supposed job they wouldnt need portals to advertise for them!
Funny I was reading how cloud has gagged meister somehow and forced him to remove crystal from his rogue list? I dont know the specifics of that, but it doesnt sound too good!

So they say they havent received enough complaints to take action(s)? Give me a break! Sounds like they want to remove you manually from this list and keep spamming those who dont complain!
Screw that ! Stop the spamming all together not just those that complain !!!
Casino Profit is a joke! That guy is a notorious spammer but since it produces some money he is ignored thats totally unacceptable. Cyrstal Palace Casino is stealing hundreds of thousands of other sites content ia scrappers - I would bet we could all name the person(s) responsible for this nonsense!
Until these programs/casinos put a stop to the unethical behavior instad of giving free rides to a few select people this industry will never take a serious step forward!

I'm experimenting with the "unsubscribe" function. It works differently for the three different Bercovitz spams on behalf of Fortune lounge casinos I've received, which is strange.
*One said I'd get an automatically generated email with a link I'd have to click; it never came.
*One said I'd get an automatically generated email with a link I'd have to click; said email came; clicked said link; got confirmation page; we'll see if the spam for that casino stops.
*One just gave me confirmation page that said the spam would stop in 72 hours. We'll see if spam for that casino stops.
I have to go through this circus for every single one of Fortune Lounge's casinos and of course the possibility exists that Bercovitz will just send me more spam for other casinos of other groups that don't even offer the pretence of avoiding spam. I will keep you all posted if that is the case.

I have let them know why I am not promoting their specials anymore.
If I get 3 or 4 mails about it daily making it through multiple filters, what would be the point in advertising it? It would only associate me with the spammers.
There are a number of affiliates who have removed them entirely for this - I have just banned them to the bargain basement.
Whether they move back up or drop out the bottom depends on them.
I am not associating my good name with spamming of these proportions, or any proportions at all, really.

I'm bumping this to note that FL has been approached by Casinomeister and eCOGRA over this. One of the problems is that FL has claimed it has received only two complaints, whilst the Meister has received one.
Spammed players are encouraged to contact Bryan Bailey at Casinomeister or Andrew Beveridge at eCOGRA if they are aggrieved at being spammed with FL material. These two will ensure that they are permanently removed from any email lists to which they have not "opted in" but are receiving spam. Other efforts are in hand to clean up the offending lists.

GrandMaster -
>CAN-SPAM is what it says; you "can spam" it allows people to SPAM, so in my opinion it is irrelevant (the likes of large corps can no send as much mail as they want if they do a few cross checks). Further more I am not associated to FL and cannot comment on their behalf, however I have been online for many years and I strongly disagree having political governments enforcing any laws and legislations on the international evolved Internet.
>Harm is relative. If you have a FREE email account at Yahoo, Hotmail and so forth expect to get spammed. If you register your private domain and set up personal email account for a small annual cost you reduce receiving large olumes of unwanted email.
Furthermore my iew is that this large cost is all hype, do you really want to believe Microsoft a "nanny state" want to be? The large cost is much less than the cost of growing trees and processing plants for the paper and chemicals for the inks for... | | Read Entire Entry |

FL claims CAN-SPAM compliance. As I am not in the US, it has no relevance to me, and it would be nice if FL required compliance with local laws.

No harm done? What about people's wasted time? Lost productivity due to spam is in the billions of dollars in the world. If you are on dial-up and paying by the minute, spam is costing you real money.

Because I think ecogra should make a move on a sealed firm before the Meister.
It looks like we are all witness to the first serious test of eCOGRA's tests.
Does Fortune Lounge pass a test of "Advertising media and content as well as promotional activities shall comply with the letter and spirit of eCOGRA" ?
Does eCOGRA pass a test of integrity?

Why would a company that does casino marketing collect the email addresses of people who don't want casino email?
Your email will be entered into a white list of email addresses which gambling sites can obtain from us. This will ensure that you NEVER receive unsolicited spam email from gambling websites again.
I think it's a lot more likely that these guys are actually collecting the email addresses of peopel who pay attention to whther or not they're getting casino spam, ie.e, for the purposes of spamming them.
