Sorry folks, I meant "switch", not "split".
Heck, they both start with "s" and have the same owel.
Thanks for clarifying that, Geoff. No switch against dealer BJ across all Playtechs would appear to be what is being aimed at.
EDIT: Switch, not split...switch, not split...switch, not split...

Next question - for Geoff maybe: can the individual Playtechs CHOOSE a rule ariant like this - no split against ace? If not, do you have any idea what's going on here? Different Playtechs are currently running to different "rules":

Hi Caruso
I'm going to assume that you meant 'Switch' instead of 'Split' - if you meant 'split' then I'll address that later if you let me know.
Playtech didn't intentionally include the 'no-switch erses Ace' rule. They asked me to send them the current USA land-based rules, as they wanted to offer the same ersion, and misinterpreted my response.
When I informed them of the error they told me that they will address the iss... | | Read Entire Entry |

Can you not split against the dealer's ace? I guess I missed it because I was never in the position when I would have wanted to do that.

The ENHC rule has a bigger effect on the edge. The casinos in Las Vegas use the USA 'Hole Card' rules.
'Hole Card' adds around 0.11% to the house edge. This would equate to a house edge of around 0.16% for the USA 6-deck ersion.

I would just like CONSISTENCY from other Playtech casinos - Hard Rock still does not allow switching against a non-blackjack dealer ace.
Totesport have certainly handled this with extremely un-casinoesque upfront honesty - remember how Intercasino marketed the Double Bonus downgrade? No BS marketing hype here, and they came sooooo close to saying the payout had actually been downgraded, in the "...still has" phrase.

totesport as one of the only playtech casino that is 100% solid and reliable has sent out the following email:
Quote:
Dear totesport casino customer
We would like to draw to your attention the latest updates to the rules of the game blackjack switch at totesport casino.
We have recently introduced a slight amendment to the game as follows:
As of 17th March 2006 we have introduced the "peek" rule to Blackjack Switch, by which the dealer checks for a Blackjack whenever his first card is either an Ace (11) or a Ten (10) alue card. When a dealer peeks and has a Blackjack the game round will immediately end, resulting in the player losing any hand other than Blackjack and pushing a Blackjack hand. In these circumstances a player will not get a chance to switch. Should the dealer peek and have any hand other than Blackjack, the game will continue as normal.
Blackjack Switch still has one of the highest payouts of any casino game at to... | | Read Entire Entry |

So, I'd like to know what the definitive situation is here:
The rules changes are:
1) You cannot switch if the dealer has blackjack.
2) If the dealer is ace-up you cannot switch, blackjack or not.
3) If the dealer is ten-up and non-blackjack, switching is as normal.
Correct?
If so: What is the house edge now?

I have just checked Hard Rock and it seemed to play correctly with American hole card rules. (The dealer peeks, and the player is not allowed to switch if the dealer has blackjack, but I was able to switch against a non-blackjack ace.) BJS is still off the menu at Totesport.
Apologies, this is incorrect.

After reading again Greek Viking's experience above, I would hope that when Playtech have finally attended to this issue there will be some compensation for those players who have used the game since the *technical difficulties* arose.

I have received the following mail from Totesport: "Thank you for your email. Unfortunately Black Jack Switch has been disabled until further notice due to technical difficulties".
....
I have just received £50 as compensation for the problems that I have experienced with Blackjack Switch.

I have noticed that since the recent software update, blackjack switch is not dealt according to the published rules and the changes are in the casino's favour (surprise).
If the dealer is showing an ace, the player is not allowed to switch any more regardless whether the dealer has blackjack or not. I have screenshots to prove that there is a problem.
On another occasion, the dealer was showing a 10, and he simply turned over his blackjack without giving me the option to switch.
Until this problem is resolved, I recommend that you stay away from blackjack switch.
