A buddy of mine was up 3K playing Blackjack in AC a few weeks back and lost it all. He got a comped weekend out of it. But geez. That kind of streak never happens to me. I would have walked, taken 1500 of that and go play in a WSOP tourney.

At the time, about 10 or 11 years ago, (Sorry Grumble - I can't buy you a car until I start winning at Poker), I lived about 400 metres from the Casino and if I walked down my street, I could see the flashing neons.

One of my buddies, as described in the story, was out of control with gambling and I could see my future! I loaned him money to get out of a scrape - he had taken, the $$$Christmas fund that staff had been saving up all year for at work down to the casino and lost. I was up $4200 playing Black Jack before they were about to close the table.
Last hand: I was dealt 6/5 for an eleven against the Dealers 5. I looked to my buddy and said, "What's a man to do?" , so I doubled down for $1000.
No good, the dealer flipped over a 2 which gave me a 13 against the Dealer's 5.
I checked and the dealer caught a 10 then a 3 for 18.
I walk out with $3200, only to come back the next evening with $500 from my Bankroll. Now I'm down to a single $25 chip when I am again dealt an 11, this time with 8/3.
So tell me, what's a man to do?
I ask my buddy (who had himself won about $4k the previous night) to loan me a chip so I can play the hand.
No good, he doesn't believe in lending to friends. This is the same man who would not even think about buying me 10 drinks in a row (and better make them doubles!) AND who knows that I've got $2700 in cold hards sitting i... | | Read Entire Entry |
