Juiceeq, you can bet on anything. We used to bet on spades all the time. Depending on your bankroll, the stakes can fluctuate, but we would bet 5.00 a trick or book. So say on a hand you and your partner ran 10 books and the opposing team made 3, they would be in the hole to your side 35 dollars. Stakes can be higher if you wish. Yet another way to spice the game up a little are side bets. Before the cards are dealt, bet a predetermined amount on who gets the Ace of spades, most spades, lowest heart, most books by one person etc. Like I said, you can wager on anything.

Simple rules for Tonk...Cards are assigned alues A=1, 1-10 are face alue, J=11, Q=12, K=13. A set ante or pot amount is decided upon before the deal (we play between 1 and 5 dollars a hand, which can get expensive due to the speed of play). Five cards are dealt to each player. Determine the alue of the total points in your hand at the beginning of play. If the total is 49 or 51 you automatically pick up the other players antes. If noone goes out at the beginning, play begins. The player to the left of the dealer draws from the stock pile, the game from this point has two options; to either get the lowest points alue possible by keeping, for instance a drawn 2 and discarding a 10 from your hand, or using drawn cards to make "runs" similar to Rummy such as 7,8,9 of diamonds, or 10, 10, 10. At any point during the game when it is a players turn he may "Tonk-out", or lay all their cards face up on the table and state the total. The game is over at that point, and points are totalled for ... | | Read Entire Entry |

Tonk or pitty pat is played with five cards dealt out. Since there are different ersions of this game make sure you know which one you are playing. The ersion I played with had a wild card. The object is to make pairs and go out before anyone else does. the bet is made at beginning of game, winner take all in pot. Side bets are made on high spade, low heart.

ive never heard of tonk in my life... but will check it out. My fa game by far is hearts, the luck involved is a bit high but its a lot of fun.
But it really depends on the card-knowledge of players:
low- its best to play snap, bullshit, eights
medium- best to play thirteen, big 2, rummy
high- oh hell, hearts, spades
gamblers- ... texas hold'em always!

Tunk or tonk is a great game. I've also heard it called Pitty Pat. Another one ery similar to Tonk is Duces. But my favorite game aside poker would have to be Spades for 4 people or Gin Rummy for two. All great games. I can't believe someone else plays Tonk.

There is a dice and marble game my family has always played. We pay it at family reunions and any other get together we have. It is called Murder. You have 5 marbles and try to get around the board by rolling the dice. If you land on a hole that has someone elses marble, you just murdered them. They have to go back to their starting point. You have to get all the way around the board with 5 marbles to your home. Believe it or not, this often creates more action than kick the can....I'll explain that one later.

i like a game called Guts
every player puts in X amount into the pot (say 6 players $1 each for $6 pot) and is dealt two cards face down.
The object is to see who has the guts to say they have the best two cards. When its your turn to act if you feel you have the best two cards (of course AA is premium) you lay your cards face down in the middle of the table.
Everyone else has the option to call you or fold. If no one calls you you win the pot, but if someone thinks their hand might be better they lay their cards face down in the middle of the table, you look at their cards and they look at yours. Your cards go back to the middle of the table.
Now if you had the better hand they pay you whatever the pot is ($6 here), but if they had the better hand you pay them.
can get interesting after awhile playing this lol

Nice job on the rules. I'm going to try this one with the family on Friday. Although my boys now play poker fairly well (ages 10 and just about 12), this would be a good non-poker game to try.
Thanks for posting it.

theres a game i play called Pasoy Dos (not sure if thats how you spell it) its a pretty fun 2-4 player game.
here are the rules/gameplay:
-the strength of suits matters: clubs(lowest), diamonds, hearts, spades(highest)
-3 is the lowest card, 2 is the highest.
-the strength of the other hands are in order: 3-A, 2
-2 of spade is the strongest hand in the game.
-only single card, pairs, and 5 card hands are allowed. (makes the game more interesting)
to play:
-at a 4 handed game, deal out all the cards evenly.
-the person with the 3 of clubs will start off.
-they can throw down the 3c, a pair of 3s, or any 5 card hand they want that includes the 3c.
-the person on the right will have to put down a hand that beats that previous persons hand. if the person put down 3c, he can put down any higher card or or any of the other remaining 3's since the suits are higher. if its a pair or a 5 card hand, the person will have to put down a h... | | Read Entire Entry |
