Nothing like playing Spades and having a chat with people out there. For those of you who think its difficult, you'd be surprised how easy it is to learn and how much you'll enjoy it.
standard style of play:
Bid how many books you think you'll make, aka "Tricks." Aces have the highest alue, dueces lowest alue; Spades are trumph(they beat clubs, hearts & diamonds), hence the name "SPADES", but you must play the lead card of the same suit if you got it, else, you're free to play the Spade trumph.
You'll be teamed up with the player directly across from you, which means you'll have to watch their play and not try to beat them out on every play.
If I haven't botched this explaination, give it try

Thanx JuiceeQ i had been wondering the answer to that. Now I can use it to.
We play with jokers and add a ariation to the first hand too: since the [2 D] and 2♥ are remove and the 2♠ & [2 c] are the third and fourth highest trump cards, the 3♣ leads off the first hand since it is the lowest playing card in the game. However, after the 3♣ leads, every player must throw their lowest club as well, if you have no clubs you have to throw an off-suit NOT a spade. This allows you to get lucky on the first book sometimes and grab that extra book you bid, or, another scenario would be if you held the A&clu... | | Read Entire Entry |

I like playing ace down. Where you leave all the cards in a don't use any jokeres. It's different bidding, especially when you're used to not always counting the A(s) as a definete.
I cannot stand playing with nil bidding. It always throws me off. Let say I have A, Q (h) I normally don't count my Q then I throw the A and the nil bidder throws the K now my Q walks.
Is there a format for labeling cards on here? I would guess most don't type out Ace of Spades.

I LOVE spades, my g/f and our roommate play all the time wheneverwe can get a fourth. We play 2d and 2h come out and are replaced with the Jokers One high Joker then a low Joker and followed by the 2s then 2c. Ace of spades down from there are the cards in sequential alue.

I used to play on Pogo all the time, then got hooked on poker! And yeah, Alon, their poker is NOTHING like a real game! Ha-ha! Haven't played on there in ages...but my name is muffetsbaby on the off chance we're there at the same time.
Danny Boy--Pogo does have a ton of games on there...you get more if you pay for a membership, but there are also quite a few with a free account, too (unless it's changed since I've been there).

I've played spades for years and we always used 100 for the nil alue. Also used to play a lot of bid whist which is even more difficult to master than spades...

yeh, i also play spades at playsite.com and sometimes at friends places. we never play with the jokers though! and never heard of the 2D ariant either. At the site we play 50 pts for normal nil, while at friends house its 100. I think it should be 50 all around really, wat do you guys reckon?
Btw, hearts is by far the game i play the most.

I play spades on Pogo all the time. Actually I play through AOL games which uses Pogo. It's pretty cool. I never signed up as a pogo member only because the few games they offer to members only, I don't have much of an interest in.

Spades is what got me on to Hold'em. I loved playing spades and joined Pogo.com to play Spades. While on Pogo i discovered their Hold'em game and got hooked. By the way if you want to see a rigged game go to Pogo.com. It's a play for free tokens site only and it's big hand after big hand. I got 2 Royals and countless 4 aces the first month I was there. Great game site for all kinds of games if you are interested. Pinnochle, checkers, chess, slots, hearts, spades, backgammon, etc, etc.

I love playing Spades, but it has been awhile since I last played. We used to have a regular game on weekends, but haven't for a long while. But yeah, when we did play, we would play w/ four people, you sit across from your "partner", and use the Jokers as the "Big" and "Little" trump cards (both bigger than the A♠ ). Lots of fun! Hmmm...think I'm gonna have to organize a home game soon....

Hello All,
I just joined the other day. While I'm not a poker playing professional by no means, I just enjoy a friendly game.
I've become pretty good at spades. Just wondering how many people like to play spades, and the different ways people play.
Most of the times I've played spades, we play with the jokers and leave out the 2 of diamonds. A lot of people play with the two of diamonds as trump.
Just wondering who likes to play, and maybe we can set up a game between us members sometime.
Dan
