I love Guts.
3 and 5 card Guts , Acey-duecy , and tonk are regulars at the tourney losers table at our home game. And the winner there usually wins more than the tourney winner.

How about its evil cousin, Crazy Pineapple? Both ersions seem to be turning up on tournament schedules at our local casino - can't say the urge to play them has grabbed me yet though

I've played a completely different ersion of Guts (which may be a completely different game with the wrong name), can't remember exactly how it goes but the betting happened before anyone got cards - you have to match the previous bet or fold.

Then you get two cards face up, with a third face up card to come afterwards. You need to call whether the third card will be inside our outside your first two cards (say you've got 2 and 8, 6 would be inside and K would be outside). If you get it right you stay in the hand, if you get it wrong you're out. Goes on until there's one person left in.

At least, I think that's how it worked. It was late and we'd been drinking <...

oh i just remembered something...i know this is not the original game guts but it can be fun. on poker stars we used to play this in omaha h/l. so there is 9 players, by the way this was for fake chips and just for fun. so everyone has to load up to 40K and everyone has to go all in every hand for 7 hands in a row and then in the end there is one winner or even two r 3 sometimes. this game takes no skill just luck but it can be fun when you are bored.

Guts is a dealers choice game and there are a lot of ariations. The name came about when you had to declare "guts" or "no guts". The original game I played was 3 cards face down. Hands were alue (no straights or flushes would count). Starting with the UTG you declared. Each person with guts played for the pot. If you fold (no guts) and at least two people call, your are out of this hand but get a "free ride" to the next hand. All losing guts hands matched the pot and the next pot increases accordingly. If no player has guts the dealer takes the pot subject to challenge. If a player challenges the dealer, the dealer has to decide to call the challenge by declaring guts or no guts. If the challenging player wins he takes the pot and dealer has to match the pot for next game. If the challenging player loses he must double the pot for next game. I later played in ersions where there was no challenge and the dealer needed an ace high or better to claim the pot. The game ends whe...

I used to play guts a lot with my buddies, 2 cards only, all call or fold at the same time (usually everyone would put a closed fist on the table, if it had a coin in it you were in). If you won you'd take the pot, if you lost you had to match the pot. The pots could get insanely big....same with "in between".

We play guts at our home game, two different ersions actually and neither like the one you describe. Pots can get crazy with this game.

We played this as our standard game while I was in University, about 14 years ago. Learned back them that the name suited the game. Have not played since then.

Anybody play Guts anymore. I used to play it all the time in home games, but don't see it talked about at all anymore. Two cards just like Holdem except there is no flop. Bet on your 2 cards and you get another card and then all callers match the pot and show down.
