Wow...I didn't know people still played Magic...I remember back when I was 8 my brother in-law tried to teach me how to play this.

Then when I got older, I got better. :-P

Wow...gotta love the old days.

Played Noah once in a pro-tour qualifier after I had won the first 3 matches. Got my ass kicked, but it's cool to have played a successful poker player.

I played magic back in high school. I never was one of the high-caliber geeks like some of my friends. A buddy of mine had this deck that could make you completely draw through your entire deck in about 4 turns, no matter your deck size. It was fricken amazing.

I hate Yu Gi Oh. It's a kids game, not nearly as deep as Magic.

Magic was a pretty sick game... Im not a nerd or geek or anything but I found magic to give me the same thrill that poker does. Your adrenaline gets going especially if your playing for money and stuff

I used to love playing MTG. Starts to get ery complicated though the more cards you pick up. After a while, it became more of a race to collect the best cards than playing the actual game. thats when it kind of died out with us. I just seen some ads on the t the other day about it, seems its starting to come back a little. wouldnt mind picking up a starter deck to mess with, but wouldnt get crazy like i did before. i just sold my entire set on ebay a while back when i dug it out of the closet. had some crazy cards lol

Magic was all about strategy, just like poker. And just like poker, a little luck of the draw never hurts.

500$ is nothing in today's Warhammer world where crappy plastic figurines sometimes go for over 40$ a box of 4 or 6. I have a few "started armies" laying around (and probably the only Chaos Dwarf army that wasn't built by the ubber-geeks that designed them... lol) and that amounts to around 1600 easily.

Not everything is mine, mind you. I wasn't that rich, a lot of it is gifts from geek friends (wow, you got me a toy tank for my 18th birthday, thank you!).

WH40k Isn't a card game It's a table top warfare game. It's ery strategical/tactical ery much like chess except that It's muuuch more expensive lol. Warhammer 40,000 It's really fun.

I never really imagined grown people playing this game, I thought it was like the whole YuGiOh thing....you take some cards and "they battle" or something :\ lol

Yea it is I played Warhammer 40k when I was younger. I was also an expert at StarCraft too. I never did spend as much on WH40k as I did on MTG though but mainly just because I was always more into MTG but I still did end up spending prolly nearly $500 on WH40k though... I still have all my WH40k stuff. I'm thinkin about gettin the latest edition rules book and goin down to the local hobby store on the weekend & playin it sometime, maybe some of my old buddies are still there.

No, I didn't play MTG but a good 99% of my friends did play the game. Lots of poker players descend from MTG, but also from ideo games or pool. I used toplay Starcraft tournaments on a regular basis and even won a few local ones.

And to all the people who say that MTG is pricey, try Warhammer. That shit is ridiculous, especially nowadays.

I used to play MTG all the time for years when I was a teenager. I'm selling my MTG collection on eBay soon after I type up all the rare cards I have which will be a pain since It's a whole binder full. This game costs a shit load of money to play. One deck I built a few years ago cost me nearly $400 to make for shits sakes! When I put my cards up on eBay I'll make a thread so everyone can see. Some might find it interesting. I'm thinking about keeping my Prosperous Bloom deck though as a momento...
I love that deck, used to piss people off sooo bad with that combo.

Picked up a starter deck the other day for the hell of it, it's not a bad game. I'm gonna grab a cheapo lot of cards on ebay soon and spruce up the deck a bit, but not going to get too involved - don't have the spare money to build one of those superdecks.

I just saw this, its Magic Online I have not been on in awhile so not sure how it is anymore. Im tempted to download it though.

also keep in mind it is not free, the cards cost money, the decks cost money, the tourneys cost money. You are paying for irtual cards, if you want cards cheap go to ebay and type in magic the gathering online to get massive amount of cards cheap. I might throw some monies on there for hell of it one of these days again.

Oh man never saw this thread (It only predates me by like 3 months lol)

I still have my old collection, but i use to play this constantly! I had a squirrel deck that I built, that under VERY optimum conditions I could deal up to 20,000,000 damage in one turn (Squirrel decks were Godly due to the amount of squirrels/squirrel tokens you could put in play. Multiply your 10,000 squirrels' power FOUR TIMES using 4 Coat of Arms....)

For those who don't know how to play this game: You only get TWENTY life points. So if I could spread the damage in one turn, I could kill 1,000,000 players at once.

Usually by the end of the game though my 300 squirrels would be at about 600p/600d
