straights are much easier to get in texas hold em and i hate them because i will get a set and someone else will get a straight and completely screw me over it is a lot easier to get a straight in texas hold em then in 5 card stud

my mom plays play money on pokerstars and tells me there is cheaters out there on stars from talking to ppl over the years...personally i don't believe it but she's been on it way longer than i have...
in your situation...take these things in affect....the other person might be a straight draw person..maybe they think they can always pull that straight (and they probably usuallly do) so they called ya...or they have a lot of money (not on starts necessarilly) and said "aye...what the hell...i'm going for it!" and close their eyes and hope for the best....
most ppl will differ with me but i STILL say save your money on AA and just play it off the flop....recently i've been takin this game differently....AA is just another hand...it can be beaten in so many ways to it's superiority. you never know what's gonna fall which is the main point...perhaps K Js was waiting for you to raise and out comes KKJ on the flop or even worse KKK lol....i'm just saying anything's possible...the ... | | Read Entire Entry |

I was just at a 100NL table on stars, and raised 5x the bb with ace ace, got called by 5 6 off and he flopped a deceptive straight. Cost me my stack when I hit an ace on the turn. River was no help, and I lost 85 bucks.
Fish have been killin my bankroll today

Yeah thats when I jump over to a NL table when people are gettin garbage like that to fall. At least in NL you can make it alot harder for them to play those 3,4 and 5,6 's. Yeah Noble's player base isn't all that great yet and it probably won't grow exponentially till they open up more lower or micro limit tables. Noble doesn't seem to have much intrest in anything lower than .5/1 . Can't say I blame em but some of us count on those micro games to build and stabalize our rolls.

Right then, was playing on noble (still clearing the deposit bonus) $1/2 holdem tables.
Now there is a guy who is on there a lot, complete calling station. Twice he managed to nail me with straights after playing preflop with rags.
Now he did raise me, which tbh by now I should know to fold the hand (I'll learn to do this, even if it kills me)
I have a habit though of not seeing straights on the board when there is a low rainbow flop.
Another low card on the turn makes my higher pair (or whatever I have at the point) still look strong. The new card is rather deceptive, in that it looks innocent but gave the other guy a straight (or the river card for that matter).
Its a hand that manages to disguise itself well. Having had my fingers burnt by it twice now, its something I am going to have to try and pay attention too. Thought it would be worth sharing before anyone else becomes a ictim of it ;]
Of course at higher limits this is less of an issue as p... | | Read Entire Entry |
