I usually go in to try to draw the trips.. as long as the cost is relatively cheap and i'm in good position on the table. Otherwise, its a fold for me.

A small raise to narrow down the field doesn't hurt if you have a decent stack, but if you are short stacked the most I will do is call the blinds!

Once raised pot, I'd be inclinced to fold.

But it also depends on the amount of people calling the raise pre-flop...

I agree with most, it depends on the situation. honestly I hate betting pocket pairs of any kind even AA has bitten me. if I can go in with low bet to see the flop I will but I never go all in with low, medium and rarely with high pairs. I will be honest when I first started playing holdem I would bet big on any pocket pair but I learned the hard way and stopped it quick when I lost a few hands and figured it out. I am a stubborn person and hard headed sometimes but didn't take long to figure if I want to stay in game awhile stop going all in on pairs because the odds are not in favor of winning. Oh and yes if I am forced to go all in and I fold and then I see the cards hit the table I do get alittle upset but life goes on and I shake it off and go to the next hand. I am still learning alot but losing is probably my best teacher and so are these forums. I have learned alot just reading your posts. thanks and keep the tips coming.

Early in the beginning of a tournamnent, I tend to go all in with these medium pairs but late in the tournament, it is just too risky to.

reading is imprtant here but normally reraise calling is a weak play and folding is only smart when u read them as ery strong, so really the best thing to do is just re-raise to find out where you are and then go off that, because then if they call and u flop a set they might think they are ommited and call an all in bet

When I'm in position, I usually will call with these hands, as I hope to be able to deduce whether or not my hand is good on the flop, based on how he plays it in first position. Sets can often lead to big pots, and if you are a careful player, you never will lose a big big pot with a middle pair.

I'll generally try to get in as cheap as I can to see the flop. If the flop shows no improvement, I fold, unless of course I can get a free card.

It depends on the size of the raise and how many chips I have. If the raise isn't going to cost me most my stack I would more than likely call. Then hope I catch a set on the flop. Plus it depends on how the person who made the raise has been playing. If they have been real tight then I fold most of the time.

I would generally fold medium pocket pair, since there is a lot of possibilities that a higher card than your pair turns on the table and you can easily get beat

low pocket pairs are almost always a fold for me. like some others have said these hands are really crap drawing hands. also your chances of drawing that trip are pretty slim since only two cards exist that could make that hand. also if someone even has a 10/9 and they call you and hit you are screwed. in general, i hate low pocket pairs.

I agree with Cowboy and some of the others. It is a drawing hand and you only draw when it is cheap to do so. I see a lot of people going all in with these pairs and I just shake my head and wonder where they learned to play. If you don't flop trips with these cards you are best to fold because you are probably beat.

Depends on the situation and location, agreed. Yet I normally call them based that they aren't to strong and they aren't to weak. Unless of course someone makes a monster bet then I will fold them.

As somebody said before, it depends on the amount of money I have to pay into the pot and the situation on the table.
In the early position I usualley fold, but I think it is a good idea to call (if the stakes are in a reasonable relation to the chance of getting trips) and see the flop.
At ultimate bet I always watch players going all in with a pair of 10s,8s,...
and most of the time they will be beaten by somebody who gets just a higher pair with the flop.

early, middle I fold about 4 out of 5 times. Middles are too easily dominated in limit. In NL cash games I might ery well fire away preflop against good tight players a 4x or 5x blind will usually get the pot if you get called look for a set otherwise run for the hills. I am not a fan at all of seeing flops with middles that's just me though.

Well it would really depend on the size of the raise for me. If the price is right I would call. You wanna see middle pairs for as little as possible.

Do you think it's a bad idea to raise with 77 or 88 if you're on the button and there's few people in the pot? I'd say you have a good chance of winning the pot, because if you hit trips, super. If not, you can easily represent top pair since you've already raised preflop. which I think gives you a good chance to pick up the pot.

By raised are we talking raised 4x the big blind, or 1x the big blind?

I'll fold 6's or 7's to a large bet. To a small bet, I'll call if I think there will be no more raises. If I had good position, and it was going to be a fairly narrow field, I'd probably Raise 3x or 4x the BB with 8's. Then if it gets down to a few people, you can feel it out, depending on the flop. I might do the same with 66 or 77 if the filed was going to be narrow. If it was going to be a wide field, I'd fold all three to 3x the BB raise or more.

In general (or as a rule), you

A) CALL

B) FOLD

sixes, sevens, eights

in mid position in a once-raised pot.

Thanks

I really like to KNow what you think,
