Yes, Michele is right. One thing I always neglect to point out because it is ery simple strategy, is in the blinds with a weak hand and a few limpers before you, you get a free look at the flop from the big and a half bet look at the flop from the small. If you don't improve you can easily muck and move on.

I'd say play them when position calls for it like in the big or small bling when a couple more chips or a check will let you see the flop cheap. Then is any over cards come on the flop like K, Q, A, or ?? - fold. If nothing comes and you might get a straight or trips or?? - go for it.

I always fold these cards when I'm in early position and/or not on blinds.

But I had a 9/2 in the big blind first hand of the touney and made two pair on the flop, bet big - no one fell out and the next card was another 9 -- so bet big again and they all called. Guess they thought I was bluffing. That was a real nice FIRST pot for me! But a lucky one to get the two pair on the flop with junk.

hi dia, thank you for your detailed reply, i sometimes do limp in with them in the hope of improving, but i can,t say i ever had, then i get sore with my self for doing so. i do play thight, playing only the top hands, i notice this and try to change gear, but at present it seems like the only way i can play, with some success. the more i play the more i see how mind games is a usefull tool,i will have to develop this part of my game, once again thanks and good luck

As a general rule, don't play rags, suited or not. Stick to good starting hands. Just because you see a flop of 6-6-5 after mucking a hand of 5-6, doesn't mean you made a bad call. This is going to happen from time to time when you lay a hand down, if you were to use this logic, no hand would be poor enough to throw away because there is always a possibility to have the "nuts" after the flop with even the worst of hole cards.

Having said that, if you are typically a ery tight player and have a good solid read on your opponent, limping with suited connectors is sometimes a good play to change your game up a bit. However, I usually try to stay above 8's when I make this play, sometimes going down as low as 6-7, but ery rarely. The idea here is to try and improve your hand and take down a pot by either it improving or bluffing at it. You want to do this to keep the other guy guessing. If he thinks you may limp or small bet cards like this he's going to give you more action when he has ...
