That's right. I forgot the exact hand but it was something like 7-6 suited is the best hand to have when going up against a high pocket pair because of the straight and flush possibilities..

Lost with KK to A2o/s at the heads up stage of a tourney last night, I was on the big blind and was raised into so I reraised all in, got called and seen the flop come down A 2 6 that was all she wrote, dont think its worth going all in with KK only with AA, AK suited tends to win me more anyway .

AA gets people in trouble when you start slow playing preflop...make sure you get enough people out then read into the flop...protect those rockets

Too many people go all in with KK when a A-3 can call and hit an A and win the best is to make a heavy bet but ready to fold K-K if you get reraised.

everytime I get pocket Ks I always lose. An Ace always comes on the flop and i have to fold because someone raises a lot. On the other hand when I got Aces i like the push the blins high.

I agree everyhand can be different, and nobodys gonna lay down AA if somebody else goes all in

To all the people that say that they hate AA or KK because they are cursed or because they lose for them here is some advice:
Play those hands against as few opponents as possible...preferably one
If you can play those hands against one other person who has AK or Ax or Kx you're a pretty nice favorite to win.

Oh and another thing- The worst beat Ive ever had was 4 Jacks being beat by a staight flush. I lost like $100 in that pot. Raslefrasle

I read in Super System (the origonal one) about a hand where some guy Doyle knew had AA and the flop came up with 2 more aces (so the guy had 4 of a kind Aces) and was beaten by some guy that outdrew him to a Royal Flush runner-runner turn and river.
Now that is about as bizzar as it gets.

iveyfan30, in my opinion raising 10x the BB is just wasteful. At best you'll be lucky enough to get someone to make the mistake of calling you with queens - but most of the time (except when playing with loose players) you'll only get called by aces.
If you are playing in a game which people are calling with ace blank trying to run you down, it'd be better, in my opinion, to open it up for the size of the pot or 3 times the BB if you prefer - atleast if an ace flops you can toss it. However if you bring it in for a large amount, you'll have a tougher time throwing the hand away.
I do know what you mean however, I was in a game and had several players who would play ace anything like it was wild. One particular hand I had kings and bet it strong. I flopped top set, and continued. The turn gave the other two players in the hand an inside straight draw to their bare ace. I kept betting and sure enough I could see they both went runner runner for the straight. I didn't even bother putt... | | Read Entire Entry |

I have been playing poker for about 2 years and change now. And recently it seems like I can really sniff out when a person has an over pair. I was playing at a cash table the other day when I had AJ flop was J23 with a raise before the flop by someone else. I knew right then I was against an over pair and even pointed this out to the table. Giving a free lesson I called and sure enough they had QQ. Of course I had the last laugh with an ace on the turn.
But my crown jewel came the other day when I actually laid down KK against what was in fact AA. It is rare for KK s AA to even happen, but it's even rarer to be able to lay something down. I do make mistakes but if you can get that feel you can save yourself a lot of trouble.

I always play K K but unfortunately it really cost me today. I was in the lead of a freeroll tourney on pacificpoker with 34 people left. I lost big to A A and ended up finishing 29. It sucks when it happens like that but its not gonna stop me from playing K K. Its still the second best hand you can have before the flop and it really doesnt happen that often. It just really sucks though if it does happen and you end up on the short end of the stick.

I'd go for AA over KK, because as was mentioned, if one A appears on the flop I have a feelin it's over!! But I'll take KK over 27 offsuit anyday !

it never fails, whenever i have kk in the hole and ace hits on the flop..i cant count the times my kk has been beat by ace rag....and i dont slow play them...i raise 6 ,7 sometimes 10x the big blind..still get called down with ace rag ,

Kings can be a scary hand for me. I often have an opponent go all in while I have it. I then find myself thinking if my opponent has aces. Either way I call though, because it is too good of a hand to lay down.

I think that is the same to have the kings or a lower pair if you are going to play against pocket rockets. Last saturday i have been in that situation. In a no limit holdem i have kings and i reraise a friend, a big raise. He called me. The flop was 2-4-6 so he chacks and i moved all in. When he shows me the aces, oh my god!!! the turn was a 3 and the river a 5, lucky me!!!!

i think AA s KK haveing ace you have BIG Advatage.. i would say huge.. he has to hit his king or some crazy flush/straith and you with ur aces need nothing ... you can take with pair or 2

| Posted by: Zubris at March 16, 2005, 6:44 pm | | Topic: KK vs AA Forum: Card Chat |
i think you should have reraised that guy .. but not all in..
if he had some A + suited low card he would fold.. i must say he would fold anything but a AA AKsui
so if he had called or again reraised you should think again.. KK beats only AA ... if he would reraise you with going all in.. then you should save ur ass cuz he got aces thats for sure..
so i think you both where a bit wrong and a bit right

from my antage point i believe you made the right play. the only thing that could have changed me is the player you were up against. if he was a mouse, someone who only plays the best hands, i would have folded after he came over the top with a bigger bet. if it was a jackal, someone who raises on just about every preflop, i would pushed all in after he raised. id still say it was a good play, just an unlucky break.

Well In an AA KK situation the odds are 80:20 obn in favour of the ace. In a situation like mentioned where its AKQ on the flop, then the odds will probably be 97%to the Ace as, asuuming no flush draw, becuase they will be left with the only out the sole remaining K
