You kinda outgrow freerolls I only play the ones sponsored by here just cause I like the people. Very fun when you are playing against players you recognise. New players though you better play play play play and then play some more freerolls. You will always have idiots in EVERY tourney you play free or 100 buy-in just cause you have some money doesn't mean you can play. BTW there are some successful players who push real hard early and take their chances because they either want to win or nothing at all. They don't see the point in grinding out a top 20 percent. Getting a big stack and bullying your way to the final table is the easiest way to get a win.

Yeah itis a good practice but it won't work at the money table in my eyes.
Freerolls are to much filled with guys they just want to double up in the beggining and then sit out for 1 buck or two.
I think after the first hour you got a skill-tourney and before it is just luck ( most of all )
Do you think that a guy will go all-in with a 4/6 of suit when he paid a entry-fee ?
I don't think so , but in freerolls you got good hands and have 5 callers.... So it is hard to win those.

The beauty of the freeroll is practice. Lots of practice. Seeing lots of hands and situations without the investment of a lot of cash. The freeroll critics will point out that the action is skewed because no one plays the same with fake chips as they do when it's their real money on the line. And there's some merit to that, as anyone who's survived the first hour of a 2500-seat freeroll tourney can testify. But the key to a better game is to play, play, play. Play as many hands as you can possibly squeeze in. The freerolls are a great way to do that, and the further you get into the tourney, the more "legit" the competition becomes. I love freerolls.

Won some at different sites. Good experience and a free stack is always nice. Pokerhost seems the easiest wins. Limited number of players allowed and competition isnt all that hard.
Getting my A game ready for Bet365 freerolls this weekend. I'm in the 30.000 USD freeroll and also in the 5.000 USD freeroll. Would be nice to pocket 6.000 USD first price in the 30k one :-)

The biggest thing i've noticed with freerolls,(as others have noticed), is the first 5 minutes. Lately i've taken to signing up for a freeroll and logging in 5 minutes later....for some reason that alone brings up my placing bye not allowing myself to make that dumb all-in in the first 3 hands.

I love freerolls and because I took 2nd at Noble I now have a small bankroll to play real money ring games. I'm hoping to place in more rolls and build that bank up!

You have to play freerolls carefully, know the players that dont take it seriously and the ones that do! Then differ your play accordingly!

My freeroll successes.
A couple years back when the primapoker.com network was not as popular as it is now (heck , as poker in general is)I played on royalvegaspoker.com . I played in a $2,000 freeroll with 400entrants.
I managed to placed 2nd pocketing a cool $400 bucks (1st won $600). This is still my biggest freeroll win. They also offered at night for about a month freeroll sit n go's with like a 25 dollar prize pool. They ran these for like 3 hours or so with about 5 tables open and continously restarting after they ended. These were tough to get into because they filled up instantly. I managed to make several hundred in these as well. Adding in a High hand jackpot of a Queen High straight flush I took about $1,000 dollars in all from playing on royalvegaspoker.com. Not bad for not making a deposit.

Once you get enough points you can enter into tournaments that require a points buy in, those tourneys are for real money.
Also if you get enough bonus dollars from the freerolls you can sit down at a table and win some real money.
And yes, the freerolls at ultimate bet are completely free

i have had a lot of success with free rolls, i did not want to sink money in poker when i was unsure of my skills so i started playing free rolls every morning at 2 am on pacific poker...my 4th night of battle i got 6th place or so...dont really remember but i won $5 then i entered a $1 tourney and won $200...so really the free roll they gave me won be 200 bucks and from there its been allllll good i suppose the beginners luck in real money is what addicted me to poker, there is no better feeling than winning money in an emotional roller coaster tournament.

The first freeroll I ever played in I actually won a nice amount on. Since then, I haven't won squat. I signed up for one not too long ago and played for a while but had to leave. I signed off so that I would just blind out. I went back later to check on it and see who had won. I found out I finished 68th. I guess the moral there is I play better when I'm not connected...lol

Does anybody have any freeroll success stories. I have a pretty good one. Last summer full tilt poker offered thousands of dollars in freerolls to kick off the site. By the end of the summer I had made $450 through free tournaments! However those freerolls are over now but LOOK FOR NEW POKER SITES THEY OFFER THE BEST FREEROLLS. One site I'd recommend is Tropics Poker they don't have many players and have some freerolls going. Any other stories such as this???
