the 45 person ones are all they have for $1. first is $14 and they pay out 7 places. The $5 ones first is $70. You play tight and don't get sucked out two hands in a row it is not hard to hit 7th.

WTA and MTT are close to the same as far as I am concerned. It only takes one bad hand in NL games for you to be done. WTA, one mistake even with just 2 people left and you are done with no money. Large MTT takes to much time to make it to the money. You have to play top level poker for hours and not get caught with your thinking somewhere else before you get to the money. Nice when you make the money but as Dorkus might say "variance sucks."
I personally have gotten sucked into the 45 player S&Gs on PS. They are kind of inbetweener game. They only last about 2 to 2 1/2 hours and first can be a nice chunk of change but you are not stuck in front of your PC for 4-7 hours.

I like the 6 person WTA SNGs. I find that I take 1st more often than 2nd.
Also those MTT tourneys sound hard, but every time I play them I cant beleive how many times I work my way into the money. Even when there are a couple thousand players, I am usually close.
Take today for example:
I played 3 MTT tourneys: (3 tabling them too)
Our freeroll - 200 players -I was 28th -$0
300+hands freeroll -224 players -I was 15th -$3
$15K Guaranteed - 282 players -I was 35th -$0
Top prize for that 15K tourney was over $4K. I won in at an 11.00 + 1,50? 6 person SNG. In the last month or so my 2 biggest MTT wins were for $450 and $250. For me they are worth it.

You didn't say if this was for online play, B&M, or home games. But I will assume online:
OK, if you played 600 $11 WTA sit and gos, with $1 of that being the buy-in fee, and you won 1/6th of them, or 100 out of 600, your winnings would be $6,000. You would have paid $6,600 to buy in to those games. So winning one out of six games would net you a loss of $600 just because of the ig. To break even you would have to win 110 out of 600 games.
Assuming you were all equal in talent, breaking even is your best hope. If you have an edge, then I suppose you have +EV.

Winner take all MTTs?

Sorry.
Winner take all's really can't be counted on for any sort of ROI.
Think of it as a lottery.
If it's a live tournament you can't possibly play enough of them to make a consistent profit.
If it's a live tourney and you are just out to have a little fun, consider the buy-in burned, and then you never know, you just may get lucky.
For online tourneys Winner take alls are usually satellites...
Quite honestly, I would prefer a satellite that offers more than one seat.
Good luck.

MTT's aren't worth it unless you hit the final table. That is my only goal when I play one. As for the six-seat sit and gos, don't most sites pay the top two finishers?

Personally I wouldn't play. Even if i was to win 3 out of every 100 and the tournys took about 3 hours to play. I would be playing an average of 100 hours of poker per win. That would take all of the enjoyment out for me.

Absolutely worth it.
You will just go longer between cashes, and as far as MTTs go, you aren't really looking to limp into the money, but you are trying to final table.
(How was that for stating the obvious?)
