If you're sure the guy's a maniac, yeah.
I've seen many limit players take AK to showdown against a new player or even a tight one. Guess that makes them a little maniac, heh.

I don't think I necessarily tighten up postflop. The thing is, that so many players at my table play recklessly postflop (because it's shorthanded and they think they have to) that I'd miss out on a lot of money if I didn't exploit that. So it's opponent-dependent, as almost everything is.

Ahh... so you loosen your starting hand requirements and tighten up post flop. If you hit the flop say medium pair and good kicker, do you call the way down to the river? Cause I've been trying out .25/.5 FL 9max at Doyles recently. IT's not 6 max, but they are way loose... calling with bottom pair and bad bad kicker all the way down to river. I can't imagine what playing 6 max low-limit will be like.
I better stick to micro NL tables...

Yeah I like short handed games too. Its easier to pull out the best hand, at least i think it is. I have definetely had better luck with them but i do good at regular tables too

The board would have to be really, really ugly for me to fold AK s. a truly loose and aggressive player at any point. I don't make a habit of showing down K-high, but it's happened.

Do you think its smart to take AK (or any good ace) to showdown against a maniac? I've done it several times and each time I took the pot down I felt like a genius.
Against one guy I even took KJ to showdown and took it down withing King high. I've been watching this one player the whole session he played everyhand, raising preflop almost everytime. If he didnt raise preflop he bet the flop no matter what came out. Alot of his hands were something like 62 or T4. However it seemed like I was the only one at the table to take marginal hands to showdown against him.
personally I love short handed limit.
