I would assume the plan is to use the rake-free tables to draw people to the site and make money off them on the raked tables.
I'm not sure how well it will work, but it certainly doesn't reek of incompetence to me.
Let me ask you a business question then. If you had a choice to play at a rake-free table or pay a rake to play which table would you be seated at? With only a limited number of rake-free tables available why would you join Tropical when you could have more of a selection at an all-rake free site?
It doesn't add up.
It's no different than offering a fast-clearing bonus. If people don't stay after clearing the bonus, they'd lose money. If people don't play some raked tables, Tropical won't make money. They're trying a slightly different promotional tactic from most of their competitors, but that doesn't mean it doesn't add ... | | Read Entire Entry |

There is one rake-free table at $1/$2, $2/$4, and $3/$6. It is still a ghost town because when I checked, all the tables were empty except one full ring NL at $.01/$.02 and the freerolls.

There is so little traffic at Tropical in general that a rake-free player would not choose Tropical over WSEX. Even if there was traffic, no one plays at the limits of the Tropical rake-free tables. I don't think WSEX is losing any sleep over this Tropical prom... | | Read Entire Entry |

However, how will they get their revenue?! No SB as WorldPX/WSEX, so..?
Exactly. Not sure why a standalone startup without sportsbook revenues would ever think this is a good idea. I'd be waiting to see if they are around in 12 months before depositing with them. This move reaks of incompetence IMO.
