IMO these are probably the best strategy articles on this site. I think Kenzie did a fantastic job of explaining the game. My results have skyrocketed in Ohama since reading them, I really didn't know what I was doing until I read these and then it all clicked.
Go there, go go.
And big thanks to Kenzie96.

Hey KR,
It is me, mange. Glad to chase you down. I was wondering where you went.
I was trying to improve my game of Omaha hi lo.
I don't know my way around here yet. But trying to learn.
I was looking for a site that is more 'poker oriented' than RB.
I was told this is such site. I like talking poker. Only way to learn.
lol

The O8b articles here are pretty good for a new player at low limits.
I prefer it to Hold 'em personally but I'm much better at NLHE.

IMO Railbirds is rags compared to here. I used to be a railbird and now i just cant be bothered with it as it seems that "The Wall" was the only player who really put time into bettering his game and didnt just regurtitate strategy from books.

Hello,
I am trying to feel my way around and get use to the CardChat Site.
Lately, I have been most interested in Omaha hi lo. Not sure way. Seem, that is the Poker Game that interests me the most.
And, I appear to do better when playing Omaha hi lo, compaired to Holdem.
I just wanted to leave a message. Now, I will surf this site and try to figure out what I am doing.
I am a Railbird (mange1234) and am ery use to that site, as that is where I spend most of my On line time when not playing at a Poker Site.
I would appreciate any information and help on Omaha hi lo strategy and tips.
Regards,
angie (Mike Ange)

i belive omaha is the best game if ur a tight player because in low there almost always seems to be a low hand when i have a monster so i split pots.

i like OHL.
for fun and if people are willing to do this...play OHL face up. everyone puts in a dollar, then deal the cards face up and however has the best hand wins and if theres a split, then the 2 take the pot.
fun times.

maderj said it best....SOOOO SOOO SOOO MANY bad omaha hi/lo players...I LOVE IT....man i make some serious cash online playin that came. ALL bad players stay in for gutshots and with two pair(even the low pair) and they love to go all in with JUST an A/2 not even suited. So LEARN to play this game and master it. I did and i've cashed out for over $1000 twice within 3 months.

OH8 is my favorite game to play, why? There are so many players out there who play it without having a clue what they're doing.
Each player gets 4 cards, and after that everything is done exactly as in Texas Hold'em. However, when you make your hands at the end you absolutely have to use 2 cards from your 4 in your hand. No more, No less. That's the aspect that confuses most players. Other than that, you're playing poker. Remember in Omaha that big hands are the rule. It's a game of fullhouses getting destroyed by other fullhouses, it's ery common.
A low pot consists of 5 cards 8 or less, suits aren't taken into account and neither is it if you have a straight although an Ace-5 straight is a powerful OH8 hand. Your low hand cards and your high hand cards don't have to be the same 2 cards from your hole cards....
Hope that helps
Justin

try out this link http://ehutchison.homestead.com/omahasystem.html, it should help understand the basics. pretty much, play tighter than you think you should. too many people play so much in omaha, and especially H/L, but if you get the basic hands down, it should be pretty simple to play.

Hi all,
Thought I'd share this with you, I just had my wierdest day at noble, I started the day as I usually do, decided to play a $10 sit-n-go texas hold-em and couldn't hit anything and when I did it was second best hand, my full-house got beat by a better full-house and so on.
Ok so I get kicked out at 5th place, no worries i'll try another one, this time I get knocked out again in 5th place, now i'm having a bad poker day.
Well I only have just over $25 left in my account so I decide to play a $20 and call it a day, when I have a bad poker day I don't usually try to get my losses back, I just go back again the next day.
Ok so I see a $20 sit-n-go and it's nearly full so I quickly register and it takes me straight to the table, phew I think that was lucky, just made it as sometimes you have to wait ages to get into a $20 table.
Now my poker day just got worse, i'm dealt 4 cards and think wtf is this....I signed up with a omaha table and I hate this game, I wouldn't even enter $1 o... | | Read Entire Entry |

That also happens a lot in holdem where one person hits both his cards for the full house, and another hits his set plus the pair on the board. That one's hard to bet, usually someone loses all their money.

he has queens full, you use 2 from your hand and 3 from the board
so you had like you thought 999KK and he got QQQ99
you used the K and 9 from your hand with the K99 on the board and he used the QQ from his hand and the Q99 from the board
i've lost a lot this week in the same situation flopping a boat and then losing to a larger one after getting the money in :/

All right question... I was dealt k,9,5,2. THe flop hit 9,9,k. I went all in (no-limit) was called the other person had pocket queens. the turn hit with a queen. So now he has 3 queens.... or does he have queens full? i though he could only use 2 in his hand and one on the board.... am i right or wrong.

Ah Omaha, I prefer it to holdem.
Basically its kinda the same as holdem with the exception that you have 4 cards instead of 2.
Now here is where it gets slightly more tricky, you HAVE to use TWO of your four cards and THREE from the board. There is no other way to make your hand, so for example you started with 3 aces in your hand then you can only use two of them and you don't in fact have 3 of a kind.
This means you need to pay attention to the board a bit more as well, if there are 4 cards from one suit then everyone can only still use 3 of those to make a flush.
Then basically the same as holdem the best 5 card hand wins the pot.
In Omaha HiLo 8 or better, things take a turn for being a tad more complex.
In hilo the pot is split between the highest hand and the lowest hand. Again you can still only use 2 of your own cards and 3 from the board. Though now as you are making a high and a low hand, you can use different combinations of th... | | Read Entire Entry |
