Welcome to fucking Russia! Now we cannot even go to a website if our state doesnt approve?

Yet I ( or any person under 18 ) can go online and get a picture of 2 chicks cum swapping and thats no reason for any Gov official to try to block that.

I can learn how to make a bomb, grow a bunch of hash or watch a chick get anal from 101 men and a goat, but playing Poker is forbidden.

The United States Gov deserves a cum shot right in the eye!

What happened in Russia... speaking of russia, it's snowing pretty hard here right now. It would be a good day to stay inside and play some poke...... I mean knit some socks. That shit's illegal here

Yes, In my opinion Poker is gambling because the outcome of any single bet is not certain for that specific result.

I agree that it could be defined as gambling with an edge, but it is still gambling. Anyone who says it is not gambling is just fooling themselves.

I don't believe we've ever said BW's servers were offshore. BW's ownership situation is different from what it was, but it was indeed owned by some Non-American for at least awhile in the past.

Wow, this is really disturbing.

I don't fault BW for doing what's in their best interest. But this is a sad day when the government is effectively causing censorship on information that it's citizens can read.

I thought we were down on other country's that did this shit?

This is a total mess, but I believe the day will come when US company's will offer on-line poker, the US can collect taxes on the profits, and we can have some sensible reglations to prohibit minors from playing.

I just hope I'm not so old when it happens that I can still click the mouse.

First, admit to yourself that you are gambling. Then admit it to them. Starting out trying to claim poker isn't gambling immediately throws everything else you say into a well of distrust.

It's much easier to explain that you're gambling with an edge, and not against the house, if you don't try to pretend you're not gambling.

Poker is a game of skill and many players can easily proof it in court.

Gambling would be, if I risk my money and go broke.

With professional Bankroll management you will never have your whole bankroll at risk.

Poker is a game of knowledge of mathematic probabilities, and skill succeeds over cluelessness over time.

I make a living and I pay taxes on my winnings.

Did BW take advice from Party Pokers Laywers ?

The result of one hand of poker is luck. The result of one hundred thousand is skill. I would certainly say poker is a game of skill. However, convincing the feds of that stance would take more resources than we have, and the chances of success still aren't that great. We have implemented this as a precautionary move, if our software detects you are from one of the states where online poker is illegal, then it will ask if it has detected that accurately. This move allows us to operate completely legally in the US. Being an affiliate may be illegal, if it's an affiliate of *illegal* online gambling. However, despite what the DOJ may say, the Wire Act does not make online poker illegal (the courts have backed this up) so the only thing we had to comply with was the various state laws.*

BW does have further plans, in regards to the current legal situation in the US, and I look forward to revealing those when our attorneys tell me I can.

* I am not a lawyer, and while the above is my opinion, nobody should depend on it in lieu of a professional opinion.

I think what he's saying is that BW is now restricted in certain states. He tried to go to a page and it said "You are from state XXXXX." and then had to either say he was NOT from XXXX, or leave BW.com.

I tried to go to a page and got an error in the geographic IP lookup, but I know that it was TRYING to look up my geographical location by my IP address.

I went to get some info on how the Stars VPP's are calculated and what kind of hourly rate they work out to. As soon as I clicked on the link I got a message that said something like:

"It appears you are from the state of xxxx"
with "leave BW.com" or "I am not from xxxx" options.

I don't know if I have to lie or what or even if lying will work but apparently I won't be able to access this site unless I do. That sucks. I can understand if they won't allow us to sign up through them if I live in a certain state, but not even being able to look at the site?
