I'm trying to convince my wife to sign up on some of these poker sites, but we're behind a router, so we have the same IP. The few sites I've checked, you have to submit a photocopy of driving licenses, as well as (in the case of one site) an affadavit stating you won't collude etc...
Which kinda stinks, as it makes the easy sign up a lot less easy. I figure the software should be smart enough to make sure two people with the same IP can't be at the same table. Problem solved.

Rob, yeah, that was the company that advertised on my website till I saw their ad and had to add the filter to ban them. Google was my advertising provider and they had to pay google for each click to their site, so I guess the idea worked well enough for the scammers to pay for clicks to their site. Are they still in business?

The target would have to essentially click an ok box when a "Do you want to install this trojan?" message pops up in order for this to work (simple spyware isn't a risk), and even then that's only one single person out of the thousands that play at many sites, and if anyone lets their computer get infected like that they're so dumb you could beat them just as easily by not being able to see their cards probably. The funny thing is anyone who's fallen for this scam has basically paid to infect their computer with this shit that allows other users of this shit to see their hole cards, so it's a case of the dumb feeding the dumber.
Collusion is far more of a threat than that crap - if you want to worry about something, worry about that.

Hi everyone,
Is there anything to this claim by a couple of firms at least that blatantly advertise their product as giving you access to your opponents' hole cards? A friend of mine was playing on Party Poker and a pop-up ad came up for a company that said something like "Are your opponents using our product to spy on you? You bet they are! Check us out at ............" and it gave their website address. A few weeks ago, I caught another company advertising on my own poker website that claimed the same thing, I had to use a filter to ban them from the advertising program I'm subscribed to. The claims they make appear to be outrageous and like it's probably just a scam to get you to send them your money for the product, but I thought about it long and hard for awhile and realized that to some extent, a product like that could work. For example, anyone whose computer might be even slightly ulnerable to spyware, who isits their website could be the next ictim. A person goes to the website, ... | | Read Entire Entry |
