I have read a ton of poker books.. In fact i've read so many that I've had to go to a different library since I've already read all of the others at my regular library.. Harrington on Hold'em Volume I was amazing.. I too was surprised at how he played certain hands given his tight image.. The number one lesson that I learned from his book was that Ace Jack is not a strong hand.. I was way overplaying that hand and he helped me to slow down with it.. I'm going to head out and pick up Volume II as soon as I can!

I personally recommend the Harrington on Holdem books as a set to buy. He has written an amazing book on tournament play and gives you lots of examples. The Online book by Scott Fischman I personally was going to buy, but then thought to myself. How long has he been playing poker and how in depth do you think he will take the online game. I have now decided to wait until the Daniel Negraneau book is out so I can see what he has to say. I think Negraneaus book will be pretty good.

The Fischman books new - I saw it mentioned in this month's Pokerplayer magazine. It's internet tournament based, but you'll have to look at it yourself to make a decision i suppose - there's only so much that can be written about Poker isn't there?

The Harrington books are the nuts though - they get you out of the hand alue mentality into stack size management that you need in the latter stages of a tournament. Harrington is supposed to be a tight player, but some of the hand examples surprised me (he would be playing hands I would have folded before reading the book).

I cashed in my birthday gift certificate at Barnes and Noble yesterday and picked up Vol. 2 of the Harrington on Hold'em books. While I was browsing for this book, I noticed two new books. The first was by Antonio Esfandiari (sp?) and the other was by Scott Fischman. I had my son with me so I didn't have time to skim either book for substance but they were new to my eyes. Have any members here taken a look at either of these books? I'd like to hear some thoughts if you have...
