I still don't get it.
Play a decent sample size of each, and play whatever gives you the most profit/hr if all you're concerned with is playing the most profitable kind of game.
If you're profiting more but buying in for more, who cares as long as (a) you're still playing within your bankroll, and (b) your results from samples are reasonably accurate?

I think I'm confusing myself here...
ok say for a $4 MTT, you get a winrate of $5/hr
then for a $35 SnG, I get a winrate of $10
(just random, made up ex's)
but the thing is I'm risking way more for the SnG. I'm looking for the most profitable tournament, with the smallest buyin possible, and a way to calculate it.
Not sure if that clears things up or not; like I said I'm a complete noob to stats

Uh?
Just use winrate. I really don't get this thread at all, and why you feel winrate isn't adequate.

Playing on Stars with my new PokerTracker software, I've been much more aware of stats lately. The main things I'm looking at since I've been playing strictly SnGs and MTTs is ROI (Return on investment) and risk s. reward, ITM (In the money %), winrate (hourly wage) and profits.
I've been playing mainly $35 SnGs (and will be until my SnG challenge is done, and probably after too), but have been looking for more profitable games to boost the bankroll on the side.
What I'm getting at is, what is the best bang for my buck with relation to time spent. I could invest 3 or 4 hours of my time in a $10 or $20 buyin MTT with a possible $0 to $2000 or so dollars to be won. I could also play a $5 45-seater for an hour, and make a possible $0 to $70. I could also just stick to the $35 6-seaters and invest only 20 mins to an hour of my time for a possible $0 to $136 profit.
