PokerOffice looked OK, if you play Holdem. Since I generally play Omaha, that left Poker Tracker Omaha and PokerAce Hud as a combination to display stats on-screen.
It's also good for helping you to stop kidding yourself about how you're doing overall, and for collecting together results from arious different sites.
That said, I don't always use PokerAce Hud to display the stats on-screen, so a lot of the time it's more just keeping track of things, and having the occasional look back over a session to see the main factors behind the profit or the loss - so I can see if I'm overplaying middling hands, and so on.

I'm interested....spam or no. I have seen the pokerprophecy tool's website, but I have a mac for now and can't use it. Are there any that have actually helped anybody? I know stats alone can be deceiving. I think a player with bad stats can give a false sense of dominance to the player with good stats.

I use Poker Office with the table overlay, and it's a huge help especially when multitabling.
Stats such as Bet Flop % or Preflop Raise % can be ery telling. When someone's Bet Flop % is extremely low, let's say 12 %, you check to them and they bet out, you can be ery certain that they're not betting with thin air.
When somebody calls your flop bet and you see that their Flop-Turn percentage is 68% you really need not be worried about them having a hand. You're simply dealing with a notorious flop caller and can probably take down the pot by betting the turn (Turn-River % is ery telling here).
There's a whole bunch of stats that can give you an edge in the game. And then of course collecting your own stats is a huge help when it comes to analyzing possible leaks and weaknesses in your game.

A lot of people here i know use Poker Tracker and Poker Hud for stats etc - this is mainly to try to find strengths or weakness in their games.
I have tried lots of different types of tools - but to be honest i found them distracting from the game and often ended up turning them off before the end of the game .
I prefer going by the feel of the game and watching how the others are playing - and not waiting for a middle man (poker-tool) to show me my options etc.
They may help the newer player and alert them to some possibilities they may not have thought of.
By all means check them out - mine is just a personal opinon after all.
Good Luck

I've been playing online poker for a year or so now with aried success. I seem to have neither made or lost money for a long time! However many games I play, I always seem to break even. Does anybody use any poker tools here? I've read online that the ones I'm looking at are allowed by almost all poker rooms. Do they offer you any real advantage?

A good tool to have is a tracking software which keeps track of your own play as well as your opponents. I'm using Poker Office for my online play and for my occasional live play I just use Excel.

Do you mean tools to play poker (or play it better)?
Pokertracker comes to mind. It gives you all sorts of stats about your play.
Also for training there are simulators that let you play for free against simulated players that are often quite good. DD Tournement Poker is not bad at all.. its at http://www.ddpoker.com/

We hope to have some sections of help up on here in the somewhat not too distant future.
Was there anything in specific that you had in mind, or what game/limits/starting hands you wanted?
If something springs up that you are curious about just post the question and wait for the replys.
As some general starting advice that works for any ariation, play a lot tighter than you think you should. Its ery easy to lose money on bad starting cards. If you are playing online and just starting out then basically don't bother with bluffing. Also try not to call too much, if the hand isn't good enough to raise with then chances are you are better off folding.
Only real good times to call is if you either have the nuts (best possible hand) and you don't want to chase out other people in the pot, or if the pot is large and you have a good draw (usually again to the nuts, no good calling for a flush if you think someone else will have a higher one if you make it)
