If you play Robotic tight aggressive like most online cash players do then I guess multi tabling is the only way to make cash and stay interested. As tight aggressive on one table would bore me!
One of my marks on Full Tilt is called Toobi. He can regularly be seen playing 4-5 tables at a time but is totally textbook tight aggressive. He is so soft its unreal.
I bully him so much I'd get fired if I worked with the guy! Have of my bankroll must of come from beating up on him!

It`s called debate!!!
Thanks for the replys. I also know a few guys who multi table tournys of say $10 buyins. They play ery loose from what I have seen. They make their money from tourny winnings but they also qualify for leaderboard points and get free entry to big money tournys.
One guy on Ladbrokes won 2 seats to the 2006 WSOP finals ia sats!!!
I think playing multi table they have to play the % a lot and also don`t mind going all in on a draw even if the odds are not in their favour - I know, I`ve been on the recieving end!!!
A ery `robotic` way of playing?

At 2/4 I dont recommend you play more than one table at a time.
This is mainly because, the only real way to make money at this level is making moves successfully and spotting when people are making moves against you. You cant really do this if your not paying full attention to the table dynamics!
Good luck mate. I personally have a bankroll of between 10k-20k and dont ever multitable...

You cant make more money at the higher levels because there is more money at stake, but the quality of player drastically increases past 2/4. You have to mix your play up alot to get anywhere!

In theory this is correct but in practice its not. I make a living from poker playing off a bankroll of $10000-$20000.
If I wanted to I could easily move up and play $5/$10 no limit but the fact is, its not as profitable as playing $2/$4 because the standard is hugely better at $5/$10.
You cant bully people at 5/10 like you can 2/4 because everybody defends. You also cant play tight aggressive at 5/10 because you will be bullied unless your willing to put all your cash in the middle regularly. In order to beat this level you need to mix your play up alot and hope the cards cooperate. You need to always bring your A game and sometimes you can see your entire stack dissapear fast without even being involved in a big pot. Its tough.
Limit on the other hand is different. If you keep it tight and play high stakes limit, you can make g... | | Read Entire Entry |

My biggest wins have been in MTT's but these are not as regular as you would need to make a decent living from them, therefore cash games and sit&go's are required to grind out regular cash. I personally am not hugely into S&G's so tend to make most of mine on cash tables but u still have to be aware of your ariance in these games too and make sure you run at a level that your bankroll can sustain, else you will go broke ery quickly, which I learnt the hard way back when I first started playing online.

Its easier to make money in cash games but its harder to make as much money as in tournaments.
I play poker for a living and play high stakes Limit and medium stakes No Limit. I also enter big payout MTT's for a chance to get an occasional nice payday.
Having the right mentality for consistently winning at cash games isn't easy though. It took me years to beat tilt and work out how to beat people. Many books, t shows, documentaries, mentoring sessions and hard lessons and I now feel I am a good player.
The best way ultimately to win at poker is to play to your strengths. Stick to what your good at and dont flutter away your bankroll on anything else.

Your post does not differentiate between Limit and No-Limit cash games, there is a big difference. Most pros that grind out a living play limit cash games. I've found for me that full table NL cash games $50 or $100 buy ins are where I make the most consistant money. In MTTs you can go for long stretches without cashing or just ecking into the money but when you do when one you can make a ery nice profit. You can play cash games and make a couple hundred a day but it is nice when you hit an MTT and cash for 5 didgets.
Umm, I haven't really answered your question. It really depends on your playing style and how comofrtable you feel with any given game. There are fish at all levels and in all games, you just need to find them and take there money, that's why they have it.

The pros make most of their money playing cash games. Of course they play lots of tournaments cause to them $10,000 is like two BB for a chance at millions.
The best way to make money IMHO is to multi-table at the highest limit your BR can afford and to take some of your winnings to enter MTT's for a chance at a big payoff.
Pros find games that are loose and soft and take all the fishies money, thus table selection is ery important in maximizing winnings.
Same holds true for B&M casinos minus the multi-tabling.
Hope this helps.
Edit: Oh yeah I didn't ote, no option for $4000/$8000, anyone below that is a donkey. (quote from the mouth)

I would imagine that it's whatever you do best at. Although I dont make big money I had my best profit playing small S&G's. On another site I did ok in MTT's. the third site (my current) is at the ring games. Play around with it and your most profitable game should be pretty noticable.

Hello all
Can anyone give me the secret to big money playing poker???
If any of you guys were going to or do make money playing poker (Holdem specifically) what suggestions would you make.
What I mean is - would you play mainly cash games, just S&G`s, just MTT, mix of all? What stakes would you suggest???
I would think any pro players out there must concentrate on something???
So, to confirm what I mean, if someone wants to play poker for a living, what advice would you give??? (Please don`t go to heavy into strategy - I think that would be up to the indivdual)
Thanks guys
Ronaldadio, WSOP Champion 2008 (I`m giving myself another year to get into the game!!!)
