my favorite hand is when i was holding a low flush and i guess my opponent didn't see it coming or something, and when i showed them, he started cursing to himself and left the table. its just awesome. i dont know why but it was just so funny. i felt bad, as i stacked my chips...
they are Clay chips, usually clay and water dont mix too well.

Chris,
Congrats on your winning session. 40 for an hour or 2 is not bad at all. Glad to see you agree with me on the chips. I guess they have chip cleaners. If not they should replace them every so often.

So I thought i would update, i went to atlantic city yesterday, borgata didn't have anything to speak of, unless you wanted 20/40, or 1/2 nl with a 25+waiting list, so i checked the taj, got into a 2/4 game and i did allright. some of it i must admit was dumb luck and not really skill but its not like i made horrible decisions either, however i had to cut my session short, my friend wanted to leave, sigh, some things you just have to do by yourself i guess. made 40, not much considering, but i only sat for an hour or two.
i can't wait to go back.

you're right - this site is a great community of card players, which i have discovered over the last few months. stick around and you'll learn a bunch. good luck in AC - i'm sure you'll have a great time. i've never been, but finally getting to a casino to play is a great experience!

Actually while the Taj is one of the biggest, a constant complaint about that place is their chips...and the fact that they are dirty. You'll probably want to dip your hands in some Clorox after you get home, because they are pretty nasty at times.
As far as a win/lose mentality goes, the "take what you can lose" mentality is better suited for table games. When playing poker, play to win. I'm sure no matter what happens you'll have a good time.
Borgata definitely has a nice poker room, and overall is a ery nice casino. Plus the ladies that work there and play there aren't too bad on the eyes.

I see, thank you for that information and thank you desert lady for the welcome.
I suspected that ol' trumpy's casino would be one of the best, thats just his style. heh.
A friend of mine recently got a free room for the night at the borgata and i'm probably going to go when he does, the borgata looks impressive, from what i've seen. i'll be sure to check out the showboat house of blues, i could use an easy game(can't we all), especially for my first time at a real casino. because contrary to what my friend says(plan on losing what you bring, in order to have fun), i plan on winning. to me that mindset is insane, unless you really just want to go to the roulette table and place it all on red or something. i'm going there to play poker, and to me the only mentality to have is a winning one.
not that i'm going to rely on winning, if i lose it will be a learning experience , but i won't lose.

Chris,
I've played in AC many times. I saw your second note regarding the websites of some of the casinos down there so here is my take:
You are right that they don't publish their ring game limits on their sites. But that's mainly because the games and limits can change based on demand. Almost all of the rooms will offer 1/2 NL, and 2/5 NL. Almost all of the rooms offer 2/4 Limit, 3/6 limit, 5/10 limit, 10/20 limit. The Tropicana often has Omaha Hi/Lo and Stud games. The Stud games are usually 15/30. The Taj has a ery large room and has the most to offer right now from a ring game perspective. When the Borgata is done it's expansion in the next few months, they are supposed to be adding an additional 85 tables to their room.
I have not been to all of the rooms in AC, but I have been to the Trop, Showboat House of Blues, Taj, and Borgata. There is ery easy money to be won at the Showboat House of Blues. The room there is ery nice, but their tables and tourneys have been known to f... | | Read Entire Entry |

ChuckTs, thanks for the reply, i was looking at a few casino's websites and they really dont provide much information on their poker rooms, or lack thereof.
So far the best seems to be the taj, but as i said i really dont know. A lot of casino's seem to be more aimed toward tournaments than ring games, or at least are more interested in publishing tournament info on their site while not providing much info about anything else, but the taj seems to have the biggest room that i've read about so far, and they go from 2/4 to 20/40 i believe, and i expect more if there were enough people interested in a larger game. and of course nl tables are there, but they dont really specify min. buyin, or much of any specifics.
and i agree with your avatar chuck, i as well plan on being rich one way or another(although i'm pretty sure i'll try to keep it legal, because whats all the money in the world if you can lose it to the government along with your freedom, you know?)
It seems like you guys h... | | Read Entire Entry |

Hello everyone, this will serve as both an introduction and to ask a question.
First of all, hello my name is Chris, i've played poker for a few years now and i enjoy it, however i've never played in a "brick and mortar" casino, only online.(as i have just turned 21)
Which brings me to my next question, about atlantic city, what casino(s) would you guys suggest for texas holdem, ring games? no limit? tournaments? over all?
Any input would be appreciated, and i look foreward to conversing with all of you about things, poker mainly.
Chris
